I got into AU ! [YAY!] but I totally forgot to fill out the FA supp, I did fafsa and everything else, and i still have time to do the tax return thing… they emailed me by notification so im hoping that when the packet comes they will at least give me some money. how much money i get is important, so… because i didnt fill it out, should i forget about this school?

GET ON THE PHONE WITH THE FINANCIAL AID FOLKS! they're really nice...but do it! and CONGRATS!

by the way, what does your student portal say under financial aid messages?

ah.. thats the thing, they said they havent received any financial documents at all, which is weird cause i did fill out fafsa before the deadline, and they said i do not have any financial aid award packages...

i'm getting scared, as well. :/

this is what it says in my portal:
FINANCIAL AID DOCUMENTS STILL NEEDED

You do not currently have any outstanding financial aid documents.

FINANCIAL AID DOCUMENTS RECEIVED DATE RECEIVED

2007-2008 Institutional Financial Aid Application 03/01/2007

and under the award package section, i have nothing. :(

no, wait...if i remember correctly, No Documents Received means something different from awards. it means tax stuff, i think? and I MAY BE WRONG ABOUT THE TIMING! (it's been a year!) maybe the portal showed it afterwards. here's what i DO remember...the "Eagle" package, definitely came AFTER the finc. aid stuff on the portal. they didn't do as many emails last year as this, and so i don't think we even got one of those. does this help?

both of you, call Financ office, to be sure. but i'm almost positive, they're saying "no Docs" means you don't have any needed at this time.

:) thanks for all your help, but they are closed today.. so ill call them right away after school on monday, and meanwhile fill out their financial aid supplement... dang. this is all so confusing... i just want to know if i got any money or not.. hopefully it will come in the packet they will be sending? :(

Thanks, happycollegemom. I'll give them a call right now - but I doubt they are opening since it is Saturday.

Also, my parents are finishing their taxes right now - so I'll have to update my FAFSA form. In the past year, our income has changed significantly. Do you think I should call the Financial Aid office to notify that my FAFSA will change? :/ Or will that happen automatically?

Also, (Sorry for so many questions!) can my guidance counselor (American is her alma mater) help alleviate my financial woes by talking to anyone at AU? She has kept close contact with the school for years.

when you accept admission to a school, that one will automatically ask for copy of parents' tax form (face sheet), but that's way later. but if you're saying your FAFSA NOW will cause you to be considered for MORE money, i'd call them. and YES, if your counselor is willing, see if she can help. does she actually have a personal contact there? you all have an admissions officer designated for your geographical area, found somewhere on website...call that person on your own, as well with your questions...that's what they're ther for! let me know how you guys do! BEST!

I'm going to update my FAFSA (using 2006 tax forms) by Tuesday, when my parents get their copy. I already submitted by AU FA supplement, so I'm not worried about that.

I'm going to speak to my guidance counselor. She knows my family's financial situation - and hopefully will be willing to help me out with it.

When I get my financial aid package (and still need more help :( ), I will take your advice and call my admissions officer in my area. Thanks for all of your advice, happycollegemom.

yes, thanks again for all your advice !
