My Feelings

Not to long ago my parents, brother and sister is taking advantage of me. It's not only occurring in my family but also in my choir instructor. They don't take me seriously. They think I'm some cute little sophomore. People make me do things, put me down etc. In choir yesterday, I did so bad (b/c I could never sing) I had to stand next to the choir teacher and sing until I got it right which was embarrassing to the point I wanted to cry. I tried telling the choir teacher that singing isn't right for me, and she laughed at me and said how singing isn't hard etc. I feel like I'm someones pet. People see me as the shy kid who's easy to manipulate. I tried to act differently and do things a little different by impressing different people. I don't want to think like this, but It's hard not to. I just wanted to get all this out. I'm try telling my parents how I feel about this a couple of minutes ago, and my mom laughed and simply said "whatever."

Sorry for the long read, but how should I handle this?

How old are you? I would try a school counselor ,assuming you are high school aged . Good luck . You might think about what you do to contribute to the problem .

I’m only 15. I tried the school councilor, they wasn’t much of a help. They told me talk with my parents and keep a journal, so I could discuss it with him.

Perhaps you could look into some counseling through your parent’s mental health benefits .

I tried to act differently and do things a little different by impressing different people…what do you mean ?

I tried to act more aggressive and had a “I don’t care” type of attitude.

Wow, I can’t sing either…that thing with the choir teacher would have made me really mad. You should bring it to the principal or something that the teacher purposely embarrassed you in front of the whole class. I’m pretty sure teachers don’t have a right to do that. Of course, it could depend on the school, but I would try anyway.

P.S. If you sing poorly, why did you sign up for choir?

@UFOninja my parents made me, because my dad was in the choir, and he THINKS music runs in the family which it doesn’t.
