My *FINAL* Chance Thread

As deadlines roll around for Regular Decision, and I await my admission decision from my Early Decision school, I've been getting the jitters, as most people on this site (who are seniors) probably have. So, any last input anybody has about any of these schools would be much appreciated! Thanks so much! :)

I have/will apply to:
Williams College (ED)-I know it's a really big stretch, but I love the school SO much! :(
Bowdoin College (This is also a stretch, I know)
Mount Holyoke College
Colorado College
Centre College
Baylor University
DePauw University
Claremont McKenna College
St. Olaf College
Davidson College
Carleton College
Wellesley College
Washington and Lee University

Yes, this is a lot of schools. It's mainly to satisfy my parents' demands. Why they force me to apply to this many schools is beyond me...

I think you’ll get into all of those schools. I’m going to address Williams College specifically since it’s obviously your first choice.

Your ACT is in their mid-range, you have terrific subject test scores, your GPA and EC’s are great. And you’re applying ED which drastically increases your chances. You shouldn’t sell yourself short. I think you’ll get in. You at least have a fighting chance. Good luck!!!

If you have a moment, do you mind chancing me? It’s just one school so it shouldn’t take too long.

Thanks, JMU! I will most definitely chance you back!

Any other thoughts? :3 Also DISCLAIMER: Dev Patel is the name of my favorite actor, not my actual name! Users have asked me that a lot (I’m African American, not Indian), so I figured I’d clarify that point.

You’re in at all of them! Concerning Williams (which I just learned about), your ACT is average, but your awards and EC are incredible. Let’s not forget your race! You’re in! Good luck!

Thanks so much, buckeyes! Best wishes for Ohio! :)

~bumpppp~ :)

I think you have a good chance at Williams. Your UW GPA is a bit low, but your W GPA and ACT score are alright. You’re an URM and ED will help.

The rest should be fine.

For other stuff, I got a recommendation from my Honors Physics teacher, who loved me (he showed me the recommendation letter he wrote for my AP Biology course last year, and it was absolutely amazing). I also got a recommendation from my history teacher, who really liked me, so I’m sure that one’s good too. I’m pretty happy about my Common App essay, so hopefully those factors give me a bit of a boost.

P.S., thanks Pat1120! :)

Any other thoughts? ^.^

Slash does anyone have any criticisms/suggestions on my stats?

Thank-you so much for chancing me! :)

I’m not really familiar with Williams College, but I looked up their stats and their ACT range seems to be 29-34, so your 31 is pretty good! You have a nice UW GPA to accompany that as well, and your AP classes/ECs really show that you are a dedicated and prepared student. You also have some great awards to round-off your application. And like everyone said before, your race will only help you as well. I think you’ll get accepted! Good-luck! I hope we both get into our ED schools!

I think you have a good chance at Williams ED. If you want criticisms on your stats, I’d say it’s probably only in your UW GPA and ACT (their 25th-75th is 30-34) so you’re within the range but it’s about average. The rest of your stats make up for it though. Good luck!

Thanks so much!

Any comments on any of the other schools I’m applying to?

Williams-Reach
Bowdoin-Reach
Mount Holyoke-Low Match
Colorado-Match
Centre-Safety
Baylor-Safety (This is a really big school compared to the rest…)
DePauw-Safety
Claremont McKenna-Low Reach (because they’re really big on ECs)
St. Olaf-Match…
Davidson-High Match
Carleton-High Match
Wellesley-High Match
Washington and Lee-Don’t know too much about this school

I think you have a really good shot at most everywhere you’re applying! To be honest, I think the fact that you’re African American will really help you because it’s kind of a “hook” that helps distinguish you from some others with high stats! Good luck with everything :)

I think you’ll get into Williams! Great ECs and your ACTs aren’t too bad either. You are a URM and applied Early. Fingers crossed for you girl!

You seem like a great candidate for all of your regular decision schools. I feel Williams and Mary OOS will be a solid high match for you. Ec’s and ACT are great. GPA is awesome as well. Only thing might be hurting you I feel is Rank. If you were within the top 5%, it would have been a match. Still, everything else in your application may allow them to over look this one small thing.

I wish you best of luck:)
