My Final Chances thread of the 2005-2006 Admissions Cycle

Don't get discouraged. Admission is so unpredictable and subjective as well, especially this year. Many highly qualified CCers who worked incredibly hard did not get accepted, while others with less stellar stats got in. This proves that we cannot predict your chance or even anyone's accurately. Just keep crossing your fingers and hope for the best. Things just happen for a reason. Good luck.

i was an heop applicant for nyu and cornell. Do you think I could get in?

thanks for the response hairypotty. I know my sats and gpa are terrible for those type of schools. However, I felt like I had a shot because of my ecs, and personal situation....... idk im just hoping.

Don't get discouraged by some of the post in this thread. Even though they are probably right, you always have to have faith in yourself.

Yes, your ACT score is a bit low. So what? I know a girl who got 1980 (int'l) who got into Cornell. I mean, she's international and you are in-state, you have a much better chance right?

If you wrote a good essay, which sounds like you have, you will have a fairly good chance at Cornell. It is stll your reach but you have a chance. So don't worry.

I think you will get into BU. I will cross my fingers for you.

Lastly, I think your unique situation will be considered greatly in the admissions process. Nowadays, the admissions is totally random. You might get in while a person who scored perfect wouldn't. Who knows? It is in your best interest to try.

I wish you the best of luck.

hey I would just like to update this. I was rejected by Maryland, Dartmouth and JHU. I was waitlisted at CMU (Priority Waitlist and got in), BC and UChicago. I got into Cornell (via guaranteed transfer. I got a call from the admissions officer there saying that I wouldve gotten in freshman yr itself hadnt it been for my situation. weird?), SUNY Stonybrook, SUNY Bing, BU, and NYU through HEOP (basically full ride and 900 bucks stipend.).

I want to thank everyone here who gave me advice and made me scared ****less the months preceding. You were only honest and your advice was very helpful. Thank you and I wish you all best of luck for the future.

ignore this post, haha.

lol thanks for the advice, but I already found out from those schools :(

I am an idiot who didn't read the whole thread first. I am very sorry.

Oh, and Carnegie is a great school!
