Well, most people who know me in real life wouldn't call me average. My performance in Eng/Hist/Psych classes is usually near the top, even with little study/practice. I've received 5's on Eur/US/Englang AP's with little study and poor note taking skills, most of the information being learned through single readings of the textbooks...my reason for hating (your word not mine =p) you is that you're attempting to "cheat" the system, not that I'm an average person who feels inferior towards the idiot savant test taking machine you're trying to present yourself as. You see the problem is, you're not someone who "should" be going to a top university, shortcuts don't work in real life...nor I imagine at ANY of the colleges you're boterhing to apply to.

One last thing I'd like to address, I did next to ZERO studying for the SAT I...I scored at 740 on Verbal. You scored an 800 I believe?

"yes they are communists but there are more to it in a country than its government"

What does that even mean? From your overall writing in your posts it seems your real life verbal skills are nowhere near your SAT score, this being confirmed by the SAT essay you posted, which if I remember could be scarcely considered a properly formated essay considering the weak organizational/rhetorical strategies employed in it.

I second Sucka.
Vehement, I don't know where you're trying to go with your chances threads, but people are saying the same things over and over and all over again. If you don't agree with them, apply and see what happens. Please stop bumping your threads. I can assure you nobody is going to say you have chances at these schools. Accept the fact your GPA sucks. Also when you put the words "third world countries" and "Korea" in the same sentence, make sure to put "NORTH Korea." I was appalled for a second.

whats the point of getting so defensive? wow, i called you average...big deal..u said the samething to me...i didn't start going unruly and try to be a jerk all of a sudden like u have i?

you said...any average person can get my sat score with lots of practice....so in a sense, why cant i say your 4.6 gpa can be average as well if one tries hard enough? afterall, i don't think a 4.6 is any more rare than a 2340 sat.....

ya...grats on the 740 verbal btw. no study? good for you. except maybe you have put in such effort during the years in your english class only to be beaten by a guy who studied for barely a few hours per month?

and oh like to comment on my essay? maybe u should try write an essay when u have have only started english at 7, moved to malaysia for 4 years at age 9, then came to LA for high school at 14. you think a 9 is so low? look at your math score then....

to uhhh and doogie, when did i say my gpa doesn't suck? and who gave u the right to be a moderator...if the bumping is inappropriate, a mod will take care of it..

"ya...grats on the 740 verbal btw. no study? good for you. except maybe you have put in such effort during the years in your english class only to be beaten by a guy who studied for barely a few hours per month?"

The irony makes me want to cry...(Hint for Vehement: I'm alluding to the horrible English you're using in the sentence, not the fact you beat me at an apparently flawed standardized test...this is America, not China...standardized tests are a guage of skill, or in your case nothingness, not a tool to place people in hiearchies =p)

Well, if you understood the concept of a verbal IQ, you'd know that people who have a command of reading, also have a command of writing. The writing skills section simply tests your ability to play with mechanics, high verbal skills go hand in hand with good writing skills. If you can understand competent writing, which is what the verbal skills section tests, emulation of quality writing should come naturally. Unfortunately, in your case you just did massive memorization of vocab/techniques to get a score that in no way reflects your actual verbal skills.

May I ask, what is your favorite book Vehement?

"apparently you are blind as well? that was the line above where you refered to my ineptness."

Could someone translate for me? I can't even begin to understand what "that line above where you referred to my ineptness" could mean in his context.

But to clarify, your sentence "except maybe you have put in such effort during the years in your english class only to be beaten by a guy who studies for barely a few hours per month?" is rather poor, specifically the usage of the phrase "put in such effort" sounds like someone who hasn't quite figured out the English language yet.

i missed out an 'an' in my sentence..big deal...

for one i don really type with much regard of my english on the net..its a hobby and oh did you evenr ead my post?

"and oh like to comment on my essay? maybe u should try write an essay when u have have only started english at 7, moved to malaysia for 4 years at age 9, then came to LA for high school at 14. you think a 9 is so low? look at your math score then...."

I don't think I have ever retaliated when people said ur a slacker or your gpa sucks....but i don't think i deserved to be flamed because of my stats. criticisim is welcomed but flaming is not.

so u think these are appropriate?

"I can't imagine such a conspicious lack of respect of American History would warrant an admission to any US university...though perhaps North Korea?"

"Troubles at home? His parents are divorced...40% of all American children grow up without their biological father, most of who will pass their HS level US Hist class their first time."

my bad- i didnt look at who actually started the post i initially replied to.

as for your grades ( i wont reply to random people who make up usernames for the fun of it ) i am obviously no college advisor or what not, but i know from people who have gotten rejected w/ better stats than the BOTH of us, maybe you should diversify your college list. i believe you are from california and cali has great schools.
i've only heard of these schools- dont know very much about them...but schools like pepperdine, saddleback, loyola marymount, sdsu, sfsu, etc. etc. because really our goal here is get into a college w/ a strong program in what we desire. ex- i want to be a journalist and missouri isnt a great like top ivy league school but it has #1/#2 journalism in the country.

sorry if i unfairly accused you, and i apologize for the other rude comments that were unwarranted.

your sat scores are GREAT- but did something happen in your life that prevented you from doing better grades wise than you did? you dont have to share it here, but make sure to do so in your app. there could be something that we on collegeconf are all missing...

best of luck and sry about the misunderstanding <3

pepperdine is a great school. some of my school's best students go there. i am definately interested as well if it has a good econ program.

and hmm the main reason for my grades is because i just didn't really care about school. i was just too arrogant to be honest.....i actually thought "heck, whats the point of college" and assumed that i would be success in life without any education at all.

meh, don't really think thats a great reason tho..haha. hope adcom can show some mercy. X_X

well too late to change things now but i hope i still can do something in the future to compensate for it.

good luck to you too...just remember me if you ever dare to consider about slacking off! haha...vehement, the kid who possiblely ruinedhis future :P

pepperdine is beeeeeeeautiful. you are lucky enough to live in cali- hopefully ill be moving there in under a year :) ...

at least you are honest- and i think that is a great quality to have. people DO mess up and it's okay as long as you learn from it. and it seems like you have learned that education in any form is truly valuable. who knows- you could do AMAZING in undergrad and go to a big name school for grad school, or be rich straight out of college etc etc or do whatever fits your life. whats important is that you get into a good school for YOU- location, program, etc. and do well based on your own standards to accelerate your occupational life.

trust me, i've messed up plenty for myself. and not even in just GPA/SAT. some people live for that kind of stuff, and i think people like US are good people- we just have to have the " numbers " to get us in the door.

you seem like a helluva cool kid. and trust me, there are so many people out there who would wish to be in your shoes.

in other non-college talk: where in cali do you live? i am in looooooove with california.

oh you like cali? hehe, i don't really like suburban areas :( seems to be too serene for me. i think i fit in places like ny better, where people can't even turn around without touching someone else. how does that go again, argh yes...the more the merrier ;)

i live in west covina. its in greater LA...not a particularly pretty place but i guess i can't complain.

and oh as for colleges,i really hope i don go into one of those party schools. i will definately not be able to control myself and shudders....can't even imagine what will happen...:P
