I'll just speak on the UC's. I live in California and have had some of the UC's come and do case studies at my school. Based on your GPA, I seriously doubt you'll get into Cal, UCLA, or even UCSD. You're obviously pretty smart, but it seems that you didn't really try, which the aforementioned UC's definitely do not like. That's just my perspective (there was a fake applicant during case studies that was like you, around a 3.1-3.2/high SAT's and the Cal rep said, flat out, "we would no accept this person")

I think you're screwed. The only school I can see you getting into is UCI.

There's no excuse for your terrible transcipt, ESPECIALLY with scores like that, and your EC's aren't very impressive. I'm usually not this harsh, but every school I've been to has stated that the HS transcipt is unequivocally the most important part of your app. Unless you've got a great reason for doing so poorly (and you may), I think you need to completely revamp your list.

I have always considered a transfer school but lets not get to there until I am totally out of options.

Well, my parents are getting through a divorce (they haven't actually signed the paper yet but they have separated their properties and are likely to live apart soon.)

Besides that, I have arrived in US at the middle of my freshman year if it helps at all. (I attended a british school before though)

I'm sorry, but that's not a good enough excuse. My parents are divorced and my dad doesn't even live in the same state, and I still pulled off a 3.8 UW GPA. Also, moving from Britain to the US isn't THAT big of a jump--we speak the same language. One good test score just can't make up for 4 years of underperforming.

most of the school's you are applying to look too much at GPA for you to be considered. you need a major hook for most of those schools (all are major reaches except UCI i would say). the fact that you're smart enough to do well in classes that you do poorly in reflects badly. tons of people with great grades/test scores/ECs get rejected from those schools all the time. you need to find some safety schools if you're applying to all those. also, lack of APs shows you didn't challenge yourself. im not trying to be rude, but rather objective. the majority of schools will not even consider you because of your gpa and lack of hook. stern, northwestern and chicago are out of the question. the UCs sometimes go easy on certain areas, but dont count ucla and ucb to. i don't know about cmu or usc. you should REALLY look at the princeton review books and find schools that your stats are closer to. good luck

i dont mean to be rude, but you need a reality check- do you honestly expect to get into those schools with Ds and Cs all over your transcript? even with perfect SATs, they're not interested in someone that wont do the work.

sorry, Vehement, but unless you are world-class in something special(future Olympian?), it is highly unlikely you will get accepted into any of those schools on your list. If you are a Calif resident, you might look at the lower tier UCs.

I don't think CMU or Northwestern are realistic either expect as transfers. I would suggest looking further down the food chain, at schools that admit many more students than they reject. Since you can apply to multiple UC's with the same app, nothing is lost applying to reaches like that. But, IMO, you should put your time and energy into applying to schools where you have a reasonable chance of accepted.

I agree with ohio-mom that if you spend money on applications to these schools you will be disappointed in April and a lot poorer. Your statistics do not put you in even the lowest range of accepted students, and these students have big hooks like being a recruited athlete or URM. Indeed, colleges of this caliber look at students with high SAT, low GPA as probable slackers.

There ARE many schools that offer good business/marketing degrees that are in your statistics range. I suggest you go to Princetonreview.com and plug your statistics into their Counselor-O-Matic program to come up with a more viable college list for yourself.

Yes I must say none of the schools are much of a realistic goal at all (except maybe irvine?) but I guess I would consider them to be a 69 dollar lottery ticket? I will even apply to HYPMS and other top ten schools but of course I wouldn't hold my breath for them at all.

To be brutually honest, I actually though I had a chance at UCSD and CMU but apparently that is not the case.

Not really except I would prefer not to be stuck at a place for four years thats as hot and sparsely populated as Texas (I really hope no one will find this offensively in anyway). Thanks alot in advance!

"I'm sorry, but that's not a good enough excuse. My parents are divorced and my dad doesn't even live in the same state, and I still pulled off a 3.8 UW GPA."

Well excuse me....You don't have any right to claim who is or isn't affected by divorce. All the cases are different and saying it like that to Vehement is very, very rude.

All I meant by that is that I don't think colleges will give him a free pass even if he explains that to them. As sad and unfortunate as his situation is, I think colleges will still hold him accountable for that transcript.

I've always been the Paula Abdul of appraising stats (as my GPA does not match my SAT like yours)...but the UCs don't look promising.

I understand that your family situation isn't pleasant. However, I highly doubt they would take that into consideration while looking at your grades.

I somewhat agree with starting your list over, as they would all be reaches in one sense or another. You may find that by looking not at top-tiered schools, you may find some more matches and safeties.
