FSU is my FIRST choice

College Confidential Community, what do you suggest I try and do to improve? Tips/Advice?

My FSU essay is complete, just improving it every way I can!

Definitely retake the tests. A 3.54 GPA is iffy without strong standardized test scores. Your Math and CR scores are more important than the writing scores. Try to get close to a 1200 on those two.

With a kinda low GPA, and your test scores barely meeting the 500 minimum, it’s tough to say you’d get in.

Your strength of schedule is what would save you… but even then it’s questionable.

My brother was deferred with a 3.1 GPA and an 1800 SAT then later rejected admission

With a 3.54 I may have a shot.

Also I know I have the minimums for FSU’s SAT scores but I’m aiming for a 600 in reading and math next time I take it

Good luck. Just realize that minimums of 500/500 are really not enough. I’m not sure why they even post them. The average is around 1200/1600 with a near-4.0 GPA.

I think it’s because people with scores that low can get in. Remember, of the main 3 criteria- course rigor, GPA, and test scores- the test scores are the lowest of the priority-wise, per FSU.

Got the course rigor down, GPA is low but not bad, SAT scores are MINIMUM but will be get better.

I’m also pretty sure I have an upward trend in my GPA

I’ve tried very hard Junior year and this summer to pull up my GPA can’t do anything else but hope for the best

Study hard for the sat and make it happen!

Realistically, you don’t have that great of odds of getting in.

Your GPA is in the bottom 25% (middle 50% is 3.9-4.7).
Your SAT score is in the bottom 25% (middle 50% is 1730-1960).

You have course rigor. But that’s honestly about it. Your SAT and GPA are really low, and that will likely keep you from being accepted.

Is that to say you have no hope? Not at all. I just don’t think the odds are all that great.

My SAT will be 1800 either by the October SAT date or the November if not 1850 having 600’s in both math and reading putting me at the middle 50%

I appreciate you helping me out with this Pasbal and being patient, really.
