My financial aid award significantly dropped

<p>Despite my parents income level staying the same and efc not changing. I'm hoping this was a mistake because my parents saw the award and seriously would want me to transfer after this year if this is a a normal change. Do most students financial aid awards get worse after 1st year or is this something I should take up with the FA office to see if there was a huge mistake?</p>

<p>I'm also living off grounds which changes the amount I owe UVa but I don't imagine should change how much aid I get.</p>

<p>I’m sorry to hear this happened. I’m on Fin Aid too, but my award did not change. Definitely call them & ask them what were the principal causes for the change. I’ve found that Fin Aid Ofc to be super-helpful & approachable. Maybe even let them know this puts a significant strain on you & your family for you to continue attending. Maybe they can get you some help - it won’t hurt to ask & they are really nice.</p>
