Sounds perfectly logical to me. Why should OP apply to a school in a location that he/she hates? That’s just asking for 4 terrible years.

nne718: exactly ! i want to have fun there too and go to places i like ! not just study 24/7

and stop correcting my spelling . if you get the point then thats all that matters. its a forum . not a spelling test

Why would you want a cement cube like Georgetown when you could have something like this: http://muir.ucsd.edu/academics/images/dartmouth_baker_library.jpg

Also, I think not liking a state is a perfectly acceptable reason to not like a college. If I decide that I wouldn’t like college in, say, Florida, then I wouldn’t like college in Florida just because I say so. (I actually would hate college in Florida, though)

OK, now I’ll say that Vandy has a rep for being one of few schools with both great parties and great academics.

^^ I think that’s hideous.

Of course, I’d take this over either: http://www.cornerstoneak.com/projects/gallery/images/UAA%20Consortium%20Library.jpg

^ I still would take Baker, but I will agree that that one’s pretty cool. What college is that?

Right in the middle of a quaint, New England campus you get… http://farm1.static.■■■■■■■■■■/133/407132695_d0a3e8417a.jpg

Beats out Waterloo by a slight margin

^I think the leaves on the bottom outline block letters, but it’s hard to see.

Haha, you’re right! There’s an S…

First and only (besides UIC, 'cause I only went there for a concert) was Stanford. I loved it so much. The people, the weather, the atmosphere was just perfect.

Left to right, starting in the grass, it looks like… NOKIA?!

So, so true.

To be clear: I’m not saying you shouldn’t visit. You should. You will perceive campus differently when you have actually wandered around it. But the actual process will not be as wonderful as it might seem the first time, especially if you take organized tours.

^ Yeah, I agree. I think you should plan to visit the schools that you are considering very seriously. I visited Rice in the summer, and Rice has a great atmosphere and campus, but the tour was pretty boring, and there was little to no mention about the academic offerings and stuff. I talked to one of my friends (who’s a sophomore) and he talked to me for two hours about virtually everything at Rice. It all depends on how enthusiastic and informed the tour leaders are.

i think i want to take my own tour and just walk around myself. i’ve always hated organized tours
