My first day of classes are all discussion sections; do I go to these classes?

<p>Do I go to the discussions even though I haven't attended a lecture yet? I have 4 discussion sections under these circumstances.</p>

<p>I got a letter from UCSD yesterday, it said there are no discussions or sections on the first day.</p>

<p>^Although that usually seems to be the case, Dr. Johnson (chem professor) did expect us to go to our section even if we had it before the first lecture. If any of you have her, you might just drop by your section to see.</p>

<p>I don’t have Johnson but I do have chemistry. I guess my first day will be easy: no class!</p>

<p>If possibly not having to attend one 50 minute lecture one day out of your entire life is a perk for not having to take science classes, then ok.</p>

<p>I have a Math 20B discussion on the first day … should I go? I feel I should go just in case my professor is like Dr. Johnson D:</p>

<p>I can’t ask my prof about it either, since it’s still listed as “Staff”</p>

As far as I know, the 20 series math classes never have discussions until after the first lecture.</p>

<p>I don’t know if I follow that rule! I’ve had a few sections that HAVE met before the lecture</p>

<p>You’ll get an e-mail from your prof. telling you if you have to or won’t have to go. Or at least that’s what my professors did for me.</p>

<p>Some professors however will not email you, so you’ll have to email them and find out. A majority of the time, section isnt held, but if it is, it might be a good idea to go and just meet your ta</p>

<p>It couldn’t hurt. I don’t want to get anybody’s hopes up or down or whatever, and I definitely don’t promise anything. But stopping by couldn’t hurt.</p>

<p>Crowell’s (6B?) one of the few professors who does recommend going to section even if there hasn’t been a lecture yet.</p>
