My first interview...

is coming up. What should I do to prepare myself? Am I supposed to wear a suit? In case you are wonderng, this is a scholarship interview if that makes a difference.

no suit, wear a nice dress shirt and matching tie, khakis, make sure hair and everything else is nice. be confident, good luck

also, i always bring a list of questions with me to ask just in case. you never know if it is going to be the kind of interview where they interrogate you or if they pretty much say "This is an informal interview, giving you a chance to ask me whatever you want". If your interview is based on scholarships, not sure if this would apply. Good luck

Son has had two interviews so far. One where the Harvard guy was sort of bored with asking academic questions, and bored with son's math ability, so they started talking about surfing. And that's pretty much all they talked about.
MIT interview involved an alumni who wanted to just go over the math course catalog with my son. And she didn't want to really answer questions about the social life at MIT. But very into describing the quirks of each math professor.
So, son was more taken with Harvard than MIT based upon this unscientific poll. But I think everybody knows that these interviews are basically to see that there is a warm body to match the stats and other things which will decide your fate.

really. But is it just me or do I feel that this interview actually counts in the selection process. I mean, many schools do not consider how the interview went when admitting students. However, would a scholarship interview be any different? Also, what are some good questions to ask? I know many things about the school aready, including the area (l live about a hour away) and have talked to many friends who goes there now.
