Thanks guys! (:

I think you stand a really good chance with all save Columbia and Duke. Get your ACT and SAT scores up, as well as raise your GPA, and you’ll stand a fair chance with Columbia and Duke. Definitely take SAT II’s. Good luck fellow volleyball player! :)

Those two are defff reachs haha. But Dukes for my mom and Columbia is for my dad(:
Thanks!

Definitely take the SAT IIs. For all those schools save the UCs, you’ll need them. And even for the UCs, it’s a good idea.
Try to get an ACT of 31+ or an SAT of 2100 or higher, because honestly your GPA is not competitive for UCLA, UCSD, or Berkeley. Coming from a competitive school helps, but a 3.65 does hurt.
However, being African American gives you an advantage in all non-UC schools.
USC - if you get over 2100, it is a high match, considering you’re an URM.
Loyola Marymount - match/safety
Pepperdine - over 2000 and it’s probably a safety
Berkeley - unlikely, even with a 2100+. Reach to mid reach.
UCLA - same as Berkeley.
UCSD - low reach, especially with a good SAT.
Davis - Match.
Syracuse - with 1900, safety/in.
NYU - If you get a 2100 or higher, you have a good shot. With 2000 a low reach or high match, any higher and a match.
Columbia - very high reach. Even being URM you still don’t have much higher than an average shot-6.9% last year (very few people do).
GWU - Low reach with higher SAT.
Duke - definitely apply ED if you’re serious. It’s still a high reach, but has a higher acceptance rate.
UConn - high match/match
UMich - high match/match

USC- Low reach
Loyola Marymount- Match
Pepperdine- very low reach
Cal Berkeley- mid reach Average gpa~4.2
UCLA- mid reach Average gpa~4.1
UCSD-mid reach Average gpa ~4.1
UC Davis- match Average gpa~3.8
Syracuse~ I really don’t know
NYU- low reach
Columbia- High Reach
George Washington U- Low reach
Duke- Very High Reach
U Mich- very low reach
U Conn-Match

Your Stats are ok and you’re luck that you’re a URM. Definitely Up you’re gpa because you are at least half a point away from the average of many of the colleges that you listed, which is NEVER ok. And You also need to up your SAT into the 2100-2250 range in order to be competitive. Your ACT into the 32-33 range. And ALWAYS, ALWAYS take SAT 2s!!! Although colleges “recommend” them, it is pretty much a necessity nowadays. Many schools want you to take the Math 2 and one of your choice. And if you’re good enough at volleyball, try getting recruited. And write your essays about it if you are that passionate about it. How it was an outlet for your feelings and stresses. And Lastly, Apply EA or EDD to Duke or Columbia if your are REALLY serious about it! hope this helped  Chance me?

bumpppppp.

for Columbia, Berkeley, UCLA, and Duke you should probably retake the SAT again to raise your scores. Particularly with California schools, with so many applicants many time they look at scores as a way of determining admissions. Being a minority should help, and I think you’re a great fit for a lot of those schools! I hope everything goes well for you!

Hey-thanks for chancing me! Your EC’s are fantastic, just get your test scores up. Unfortunately i dont know much about any of the colleges you want to go to, but i would believe you have an advantage given your stellar performances and ethnicity

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1178445-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

You have solid ECs and URM status. If you could get your SAT score to where you want it…you would be in good shape. However, I don’t see you getting into Columbia. Duke and NYU would be good reaches for you.

your kinda in the same boat im in, 28 act and an alright GPA. I really dont want to take the ACT but im gong to give it a shot and actually strudy for it, haha. But apply to all the schools you want to because all they can do is say know and you’ll only be out $70 at most and if you dont you will spend the rest of your life wondering what if. But here is my opinion
USC-low reach, URM helps
Loyola Marymount-dont know enough about this school
Pepperdine- same as Loyola
Cal Berkeley-reach
UCLA-low reach only because your OOS, do you have the money to afford a OOS public, considering your on the lower end of acceptance they probably wouldnt give you alot of aid.
UCSD- high match
UC Davis-match
Syracuse-match/in
NYU-low reach but still a good chance
Columbia-reach
George Washington U-you should be in
Duke-high reach
U Mich-low reach/high match
U Conn-in

Good luck to you and remember you will never know if you dont apply!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1181151-please-please-please-chance-me-my-shools-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

I’m thinking about taking Columbia off as a Reach and adding either Pomona or Pitzer
???

USC - high match
Loyola Marymount - match
Pepperdine - safety/low match
Berkeley - very slim chance
UCLA - very slim chance
UCSD - reach
Davis - Match
Syracuse - in with chances at scholarships
NYU - high reach
Columbia - no shot (just take it off your list and switch it for one of the other schools you were looking at)
GWU - reach
Duke - high reach
UConn - match
UMich - reach

Please chance back. My thread is “Review my List… Please”

Do you think you would like to play Volleyball in college?

you should apply to Uva. you would like it there! You’ll get into Loyola marymount, ucsd. i dont know about NYU, but still apply. take sats. and take the sat 2’s too in subkects you got high ap scores in. Chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1183461-chance-me-uva-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

@dla219

umm probably not. i thought about it but i’d have to play D3 and a lot of those schools dont have my program. but we’ll see i guess(:
