My first semester at Harvard from a current student

It is part of the training to be ready to go into IB and be successful at it

My daughter the soph says that drinking is very big on campus, and that this is a topic of many discussions. She also says its a matter of who you hang with and where you go. In her case, she’s heavily involved with HRSFA*, and their functions are normally dry. Her best friends, she met through HRSFA. So she doesn’t drink a lot.

ETA. To elaborate. A lot of the discussions note the connection between excessive drinking and sexual assault, and how curbing the one could have an impact on the other. So these matters are talked about in official as well as informal contexts. (Rape Culture is one of DD’s political interests, so she probably pays more attention to the topic than other students might.)

Heard about hard-to-find staplers and purchased one for my son, who is now a junior, before he arrived. They are not very expensive, @OmgHarvard. Ignoring the drinking stats.

Well as long as they are attractive! There’s a value we can hang our hat on yey?

OP:

  1. Do you have fall or spring expos? Expos was one of the most important classes I took IMHO.
  2. Not too early to start thinking about summer plans. Keep an eye out for those opportunities as they roll in.
  3. Likewise, it's not too early to start thinking about housing for next year. The right blocking group can make a big difference in your upperclassman years.
