My First Semester Schedule

ENG 102
BIO 201 (Anatomy&Physiology I)
PSY 101
HST 103 (World civ)
SOC 101
AVS 101 (freshman advisement seminar)

17 credits total.

How does it sound? I actually have no choice whatsoever. I was put in everything but history before I even went to orientation, and there I could choose Western and world civ.

Can’t say for sure without knowing about your academic history, but it sounds like a pretty typical schedule. Nothing overly hard there unless there’s a subject you’re bad at, or if you aren’t decently good with Bio.

Yeah, it is typical…there are a ton of core requirements at my school.

It’ll be a challenge though because a lot of work is required in all my classes, and to progress to the second year (the start of nursing), you have to get at least a “C” in most of those classes, and most of your second semester classes.

The only thing I’m really worried about at all though is BIO 201. Everyone says that’s the hardest class and kicks lots of people’s a**es.

The trick is to study the stuff every day. If there’s something you don’t understand, use the professor’s office hours and ask ASAP. Don’t let yourself fall behind and try to stay one step ahead. Memorize new facts everyday as well as review previous material each and every day. Don’t procrastinate. Start and finish research papers early–don’t put stuff off.

There are two things that make or break a semester schedule: teachers and class times. For teachers, browse the websites that rate professors (ratemyprofessors.com being the most famous), and find out what class times are best for you.

And an aside about the professor review websites, they are somewhat accurate, however there is never going to be a professor that you absolutely cannot make work for you.

6.5/10

not too many hard ones but 6 classes at once…

I’ve looked at RateMyProfessors and it seems like I’ve got a pretty good lot. I’ve also asked current students, and they only know a couple of my profs but have said good things. With class time, as I said, I have no choice. My schedule was made for me before I even went to orientation with the exception of HST. I chose that one. But most of my classes are done by 3pm which in my opinion is good. My earliest is 8:30 which is fine with me. I’m used to school starting at 9.
