I'm confident that my recommendations will be stellar, (I'm my guidance counselor's student with the highest average, my English teacher has told me that I was her best student, I did very well in my history teacher's class, and my chem teacher nominated me as his best student). I'm also confident that my essays will be strong as well.

UMMM also, I'm not quite sure how I will mention this in applications, but my father was incarcerated for my first 2 years of highschool and this was a tough time for me, so maybe they will take this into consideration...I don't know...

(WHEW! that took a lil' bit to type)
In college I want to continue violin, study classics (Greek and Latin), Romance Languages (Italian, French, Spanish) and also chemical engineering.
These are the schools I would like to be chanced at :) :
-Williams
-Amherst
-Bowdoin
-Boston College
-Middlebury
-Oberlin
-Smith
-*Swartmore
-Vassar
-Wesleyan
-Tufts

(P.S.>Thanks again guys :) )

daiea, I believe that all of the colleges on your list would find you a person of interest. I don't want to give you "chances" but you seem to be in the ballpark. Amherst, Swarthmore and Williams are of course extremely selective.

Williams especially likes the music+leadership+academics combination plate; you should submit a recording as a supplement to your application.

Unless it makes you uncomfortable an essay about your reaction to your father's situation could be compelling. If it's too close to home for you but you still want the colleges to be aware of this difficult time for you, perhaps your guidance counselor could mention it in his/her recommendation.

Music seems to be your #1 EC. I'd try to focus in on a #2 as your list is a bit rambling. What is really important to you?

PS, Many of these colleges don't offer engineering.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Wesleyan doesn't have an engineering department either, BUT, you may want to take a look at its Chemical Physics x-disciplinary program. As with all the natural sciences at Wes, there's the opportunity for a free 5th year leading to an M.A.:

you have a wonderful list of schools, and a good shot, but if i were you i'd add one definite safety- as i'm sure you know, they are all quite selective, and you never know what can happen.

Yeah, Northeastern and some SUNY schools are my safeties I guess. Thanks, everyone. I will let you all know. Any other opinions?

bumpp? 10char

bumpity bump bump bump

ONE MORE TIME.. Any other opinions here? I'm planning on applying to a lot of schools, but if my hopes are unrealistic, then perhaps I'll reconsider considering the amount of money it takes...Pleasey weasy?

OHHh I forgot to put I'm in Yearbook club, as if that was the deciding factor...
