My friend already got accepted into UT. Have I been rejected?

I know my friend is incredibly brilliant (35 on ACT, class ranked 1) but he turned his application several days after I did. I have a 31, ranked 10 of 360, sent a recommendation and an unimpressive resume. Does this mean I've been rejected and if not, when should I expect a decision?

I am not sure how the out of state process works, if they do the same as they do for non-top ten percent in staters then you may find out in early april.

Stop scaring me. Hopefully you (and I) will find out in a couple of months.

you probably got on the waiting list or rejected.

Well normally collleges send out all their congratulatory letters at the same time, you're probably on the waiting list, but I don't think you will get in considering UT admission levels are skyrocketing.

Are you sure? In that case, should I even bother applying for the housing? I can right now but I don't want to waste $50 if I don't even have a chance...

Directly from the website, not even five minutes of looking around...

* Top 10% Texas applicants who qualify for automatic admission can find out rather quickly that they’ll be admitted to the university; decisions about their majors can take longer.
* Applicants to competitive majors, even top 10% Texas applicants, may have to wait until after the deadline to find out which major they’ll be admitted to.
* Decisions about admission to competitive majors can be made only after the applications from all applicants to that major have been reviewed. That means that most decisions for these majors cannot be made until weeks after the application deadline.
* A few highly qualified applicants may receive an early decision even if they do apply to a competitive major.

» Target Date for Summer/Fall Freshman Decisions: April 1

Decisions are made at different times, and a variety of things can impact when an individual decision is made. So, if you hear that someone you know has received his or her decision, you should not automatically assume that the fact that you haven’t heard is a bad thing. Some students who are admitted to the fall semester do not learn of their decision until near the end of the decision process

There you go.

Ok, thank you very much.

But, should I still fill out the housing app? I'm not sure enough that I'll get accepted and I don't really want to waste $50.

no it doesnt mean you got rejected....you are most likely in...your test scores are on the high end for OOS students...and you have an excellent rank which UT puts great emphasis on...

and im pretty sure they dont send out all the letters of acceptance within 2 weeks of the application deadline...so salt and yalebulldog im pretty sure you guys dont have a clue about what you guys are talking about..

Ok, I guess I'll go ahead and apply for housing then. Wish me luck!

For sure do the housing, if you don't get in, you get it back. It is only if you get in and don't go there that you lose it. Mostly, they just let the automatics know right away. (Top 10% in Texas) Then they have to wait to see what they have before they let everyone else know. You have an excellent shot.

It's kinda annoying that they don't accept Visa. I'll have to send it through the mail...

One last bump...
