my friend got a letter in the mail...

that said he was already accepted into the honors program. He turned in the FF app. Im wondering did anyone got this that did not turn in their FF application?

My daughter got the same letter today. She did not fill out the FF application - felt like it was too much work!! I was afraid it would count against her if she didn't apply for the FF, but apparently it didn't.

I got my honors acceptance letter in as well. The same happened to another friend of mine. If they are accepting such large numbers of students into honors without any additional applications, I'm pretty sure that it's going to be really really hard to get into the program through the application process.

Imagine if somebody only applies to UGA early, doesn't apply to FF, and gets their acceptance to Honors. They've done virtually nothing to apply to college. I'm interested to see how this new UGA system works out.

It is not a new system; lots of EA kids with high stats got invited to Honors last year without applying. I think it is limited to EA kids though; others need to apply.

The drawback I see to the way UGA handles Honors is that lots of kids who don't apply EA since UGA is a safety aren't waiting aroung to find out if UGA puts them in Honors as the other acceptances come in, so UGA falls off their radar.

I had another friend that just got the application and no acceptance letter. I dont know what they are doing... hopefully I will get something, but my GPA is way too low I think. Oh well collegiate entry or another school here I come.

and riaz talking to people around school, i havent found anyone else that has gotten the letter and only 1 that has received the application.

I got a post card saying that my FF application served as my app for the Honors program and that my credentials were currently being reviewed. My guess is they send out Honors acceptances to the most qualified EA students to lure them away from better institutions. I wonder how many Honors invitations UGA eventually sends out? I assume it is significantly more than the actual number of slots, since most of the best and the brightest will wind up going elsewhere? For those who got acceptances to the Honors program--did they give any deadline for accepting the offer? Or is it the same deadline for accepting general admission? I'm guessing too that all those who currently got Honors invitations will likely get FF interviews--don't you think?

I think you have until April to accept the honors program. And getting an honors invite this early doesn't mean anything other than you have high stats- it's not necessarily indicative of anything in the interview invitations process.

Do you think those who haven't yet been invited to Honors still have a fighting chance?

Actually my post card says that if I don't get a FF interview (which I won't), I won't hear about Honors till mid April. Maybe, then, they get answers from the first-cut people in early April before sending out a second round of invitations mid April?

It says I have till May 1 to accept the honors invitation.

Yah mine says that too...does anyone know how many spots were given away over winter break? I think like 7 kids got into honors automatically at my school...are there gonna be enough spots for the people applying for the program to actually have any decent hope of getting in? I'm worrying because my future roommate didn't get in yet and I want to be in Myers =/ .

yea im in the same situation ccmbr002
