My Friend Is Driving Me Crazy!!!

okay, here's the thing: one of my best friends is absolutly OBSESSED with notre dame. she'll travel 500 miles to go to football games, wears the same sweater over and over again and the whole whammy. it's like if she doesn't get in, she'll kill herself-literally. she's an awesome person tho and i believe she's got a great chance. her sat score is her only problem. anyone want to chance her? hopefully itll provide some peace of mind for not only her but also ME!!!!

Stats (i'll keep it short and quick)

-3.97 UW/4.7 W
-Her sat kills her tho: 1890 (she's just a really bad test taker)
- Top 2% out of like 800 kids
- Varsity sport captain
- Vice President of Interact club
- Treasurer of Math Honors Society
- Me and her cofounded a foundation to raise money and awareness for aids in local large cities. so far we've raised almost $1000 and we're getting kinda famous around our city
-150+ hours of community service/volunteering
- she's got a job as an administrative assistant at the rec center in our town and she's been doing that for about 2 yrs

She's really worried about her SAT but i think her great GPA and phenomenal EC's will help her stand out. seriously, she completely kills what everyone else has done in her grade.

another issue: she didn't want to apply ED because she thinks she'd be deferred if the admissions officers weren't sure, so she's applying regular. good or bad idea?

anyway thanks so much!!!! trust me, ur doing me a BIG FAVOR lol

If she's so worried about her SATs, why doesn't she just retake them? There's still time.

And I wouldn't call those "phenomenal" ECs, but they are good. My advice would be to tell her to calm down, retake the SATs, and realize that not getting in won't kill her. Not to say that she won't! I'm sure she's got a shot, but her obsession seems a little scary.

Good luck!

ND just keeps getting harder to get into. The article Reed's pres wrote last week in the NYT talks about high GPAs with low SATs speaking to rampant grade inflation. Some colleges see it more this way then others. I would really try the SATs again or the ACT if I was your friend.

2 ppl that graduated last year got into notre dame, both wanting 2 be chemistry majors..one was ranked 3 out of 640 or so...and the other was ranked 6 in their grade, they both got accepted and are both there now

idk how they did on their SATs, but i would advice ur friend to take the SAT again...or better yet, to take the ACT (since she is pretty smart)

yep she actually took the ACT like a week ago i think and she thought she did real well on it. thanks for all the help so far!
