my friend wants dartmouth

her stats:

1890 sat score
28 act
W 4.2 gpa

badass EC's

i doubt it. Dartmouth puts a lot of emphasis testing, and delineates high scores as a testament to "brilliance." I find it unlikely that they will make such an exception, but I suppose the stats are high enough that this person has a shot. And good enough ECs can make up for anything, but it is unlikely that this person had those kind of ECs.

I doubt it too.. unless you have some nice hooks =)

Well actually, I am:
president of Key Club-12
Co-founder and Co-president of Arts and Crafts Club-12
Vice President of French Club- 11, 12
Co-Treasurer of French Club-10
Sargeant at Arms of NHS- 12

And I volunteer at the Hospital!

Track and Field- 9
Lacrosse- 10,11,12

Piano- completed up to OMTA Syllabus level 7 which is equivalent to a bachelor's degree in music education!

I also go on church mission trips every summer and this year we are going to the Gulf Coast.

At my interview, I was telling them about how I cook spaghetti for a homeless shelter, and he said I would get in because I am a good cook!

So do you think I have a chance?

my stats:

2150 SAT score
31 ACT
3.8<x<4.0 Weighted GPA

violin for 12 years. 3 orchestras
varsity tennis 4 years. captain
nhs secretary
asb
co-founded ping pong club
fluent in chinese
i teach tennis and violin

and im ridiculously goodlooking.

"and im ridiculously goodlooking."

LOL! care to post a pic? :)

i am a boy, just to let you know.. haha

ive actually got a thing for sophisticated east coast girls

No offense to either of you, but a lot of people who apply to Dartmouth have those kinds of ECs so I don't think they will be "hooks" for you. If your essays are amazing, that could make you stand out in the eyes of the adcom.

I interview for Dartmouth. I'd put the top posted person's odds at 1-5%. Those ECs, while they would help a person with a 4.2UW and a 2150, cannot do enough to get an 1890 in. Not a chance, sorry.

excitedscared: "and im ridiculously goodlooking."

You haven't seen my son! Looks like Ashton Kutcher

do you think my ecs will be sufficient and will help get me into dartmouth.

btw I have a 28 act and 1940 sats

My guess is no...sorry

I know more than a few kids with amazing ECs who were valedictorians but with 1350ish SATs who have gotten rejected regularly. Its just too tough these days, they have more 2250 applicants than know what to do with, let alone take an 1890 or 1940 without some strong hook like URM highly recruited athlete.

Ridiculously good-looking, eh? The Beautify Dartmouth movement might be able to get you in.
