My friend wants to know something...

<p>he did pretty bad sophomore year as far as his GPA is concerned and he was thinking of making a fake excuse on his app, such as a medical reason. </p>

<p>he asked me if colleges would actually check your medical record but i wasn't sure, so do they? (btw I am not encouraging him to do this)</p>

<p>First, it’s just plain wrong. </p>

<p>He’ll probably need letters of rec from teachers/GCs. If they fail to refer to overcoming a sophomore medical condition it may raise flags. </p>

<p>Further, if his high school finds out about the lie, would there be significant consequences for violating an academic honesty policy? </p>

<p>It’s just wrong. Continue discouraging him.</p>
