My Friend's Chances?

I got accepted to A&M already, and I'll probably go. I really want my friend to come with me and be my roommate, but his stats are a worse then mines (Actually my scores are pretty bad, I was just a higher rank then he was). What are his chances of getting in?

-Ethnicity: African-American Male
-GPA: 3.0
-SAT: Math (600), CR (510), Writing (550) - 1110 (Math/CR Combined)
-ACT: Composite (26), Math (27), Reading (28), Science (25), English (25), Essay (7)
-Rank: 192/492 (Top 40%)
-APs: 1 AP Sophomore Year, 2 APs Junior Year, 6 APs Senior Year, ALL Others Mostly Pre-AP Classes
-Awards/Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant, CPR License, Righteous Redhawk
-Teacher Recommendations: Really good. One of them from one of our assistant principals. Another he claims is from a teacher who talked about the times he worked within the hospital, nursing homes, etc.
-Clubs/Activites: DECA Officer, HOSA Vice President, 4 More Clubs where he was voted into ranking (treasurer, secretary, etc).
-Experience working in hospitals, nursing homes, etc.
-Essays: All 3. They were really good.

His ACT scores are at the average, but everything else is below average.. Also, on an ACT before his most recent one he got a 8 on the essay and a 28 on the Math, but a 24 for composite. Should he send that in also or would it matter?

why didnt you go for FSU CARE Program??

Oh! And does A&M = FAMU? Because if it does, he has a pretty good shot to me :)

I think he will get in as he has the under-represented population hook and an interesting high school story. Having the CNA license is impressive and shows intiative. TAMU will look at the most favorable score set. He will probably not hear for awhile. When we visited for an admissions info session they said to send ALL scores and they’d pick the most favorable ones. Good luck!

Not very good. Hope he applied early. Most likely Blinn team or waitlisted.

FutureNoleGirl A&M stands for Texas A&M University silly! Lol

Truly depends on how much they consider the under-represented population. The grades and scores alone will not get him in, but he does have some interesting and impressive other stats that will help.

Thanks for all your replies. Any one else has something to add?
