I'll apply uc in this fall.
this is my second year in CCC, so I'll finish CCC at 2years.
my major is Math. planning to transfer to UCB. GPA now:3.81 (is this gpa ok for math major in ucb?)
I'm planning I will have total 60.5 tranferbale untis after the comping spring.
is that too little?
after I finish all GE&prereq's, i will have 59units in the coming spring.
Thus, in spring, i'm going to take: 1 chem, 1 bio, 2 calculus <these courses="" are="" all="" i="" have="" to="" finish="">, so I need 1 more unit for the min requrement 60 transferbale units.
I 'm planning to take a PE class (1.5 transferbale unit) since its easy so that i can forces on that 4 improtants course.
what do you guys think? Are UCB care what course I take?.
do they think I take a easy class in order to keep my gpa?
give me some idea, i very need help..thank you everybody.
I have another question too,: I heard ppl say UC require students to take american history or goverment. if we don't take it in CCC, we have to take it in UC. is that right? thx!!</these>

You’re taking four difficult courses, and, if you’re transferring after two years, you’ve almost certainly completed a sizable portion of your major prereqs and IGETC requirements without padding your schedule with easier courses. Taking a single PE course really shouldn’t make them think you can’t handle a heavy academic workload. (Just make sure it’s really transferable – many PE courses aren’t, I think.)

Sixty semester units is the minimum to transfer, but I don’t know that it matters that much how many units you’ve completed beyond the minimum. I don’t think it should be a problem.

I don’t know about math major statistics in particular, unfortunately, but your GPA is at right about the 75th percentile for UCB transfer admits in general. I think you should be safe.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

I took a couple PE courses and I got into Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, and UCSB.

thank you so much!!~
I’m feeling better now after I read ur commont because I’m so worry about the transfer stuff currently.

just curious, I will be having 62 units after spring and that’s with IGETC, and math prereqs done. (plus 1 crap class to make my unit count over 60, and political science)

now, how did you manage to put a lot of science classes in 60.5 units? Are you sure you did the right stuff? and what do you mean “2 calculus” ?

GPA is fine. good luck.

I need that chem and bio to fulfill with my IGETC science area. and that 2 calculus is my major prere’s thats why I need to take them. I know its a lot. but I finish everything in 2yrs. that why it a little bit overload.

HAHA @ I took a couple PE courses and I got into Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, and UCSB.

Some of you people crack me up. NO, Cal is not going to think you are stupid or trying to take easy classes by taking PE. The normal CC and UC requirement is 2 PE units or 1 PE unit with a health or nutrition class.

I see so many ambitious young students overload themselves then end up with poorer grades as a result. I went to the main CAL feeder schools for years and have seen many internationals destroy their transcripts this way. They think because its a CCC it will be a breeze and easy to get A’s.

I’m also noticing that here on CC many seem to bank on a year of all A’s when they haven’t even stepped into the classroom yet. Do you know how many times I’ve heard this wishful thinking but rarely seen it from the majority of COLLEGE students?

US Government is more generally a CSU requirement but yes the UC’s prefer you took it still.

Take Note: In all my years I have rarely EVER seen any student that completes their IGETC, major, and prereq’s in 2 years that is CAL ready. I hang out with very intelligent, hard working students and it all took them 3 - 6 years of college level work to gain entry into UCB’s math and engineering departments.
