I want to transfer to eitheir: Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD or UCI from a CCC. I just got my Fall grades back today:

Calculus II: A
Writing I: A
Pascal Programming: A
Physics 4A (Calc): C <==== NOOOOO

how much will this hurt me..man I am so depressed I studied so hard but my professor everyone hates him and he screwed up everyone one. I know atleast 4 other people in that class with the same situation. God I really wanted to go to Berkeley but I don't think I have that chance anymore.

If a lot of individuals from your class are applying to Berkeley and they earned a less-than-stellar grade, I am sure the university would spot the pattern. The least you could do is submit an addendum.

this was my first semester but I am definite that I will pull it up to a 3.8. I received the C because of my crappy teacher. Almost everyone got Cs and Ds. He is horrible and practically ruined my GPA. I will be applying for Electrical Engineering at:

UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCSC, UCD and UCR

Volunteering is definitely a good idea. Check out the Alpha Gamma Simga (Honor Society Club), if your school has one. Also, think about student government and other on-campus clubs that interest you (like an engineering club). Try to become a teaching assistant for one of your teachers, if that is possible. Also, at my CCC, we have a UCB mentorship program, where someone from UCB can mentor you through the application process.

Think about what ECs interest you. Also, continue working on your GPA, and make sure that you complete all the required prerequisite classes before you transfer.

Good Luck.

Still, UCB and UCLA are really competitive, so they are still reaches.

Fei, I have heard that EECS at Cal is probably the hardest major to be accepted into as a transfer. Their AVERAGE GPA is 3.91. Plus, since you are an engineering major, you should have really gotten a B or above in physics. Having a C will be looked down upon especially as a EECS major for Cal. UCLA might still be a chance, but I honestly believe Cal would be very unlikely (not to bust your bubble) for you to transfer. Can you also evaluate my chances.....

I have a 3.71 GPA for chemical engineering. I have read on the Cal website that for the College of Chemistry, the average GPA for transfers is 3.7. Do you think I stand a chance if I completed all my lower requirements.
