my gpa..is it too bad???

<p>I was looking through the thread of who got in for Regular Decision for the class of 2011 and everyone's gpa is so high! Well at least much higher than mine!</p>

<p>mine is around 3.6....but thats if I get
an A in all my summer classes...that im talking at UCLA
and Im only talking 2 ap tests before senior year
and one is for comp sci and im only trying to pass it to make sure I get an A in my comp sci class. My sat is high...in the low 2300...but my gpa is horrible.
And I know that the gpa reflects 4 years, thus it is more important than the SAT.
My extra-cred's include being editor of advertisement and a copy editor junior year in my school's newspaper, and next year i will be managing editor ( same thing as editor-in-chief), and I am the founder and president of my own organization ..which helps poverty stricken children and families and elderly people.
Im trying to make a poetry book so I can send it with my application next year...and im trying to submit my poems in contest...I won some already.</p>

<p>I want to show the admission committe my interest in history and english, I hoping that the 4 history classes I am taking this year will help show my interest.</p>

<p>Also Im probably going to apply for an african-american studies major.</p>

<p>I am for sure applying early decision ... because I know JHU is my number one choice.</p>

<p>so what are my chances...and be as brutle as you can..becuase by seeing the regular decision thread...It doesnt look I have that great of a chance.</p>

<p>which as you can imagine....sucks :-(</p>

<p>I got into JHU, WOOO!!</p>

<p>don;t know about rd, but people w/ your stats on cc who applied ed got in...so you r ok stats wise hehe =D gl!</p>

<p>umm...is ther anything I CAN Do???...maybe try out for speech and debate?
or anything?...retake my sat's??
im so scared that I will be reject early decision and then end up going to a school I dont like...
do you think the history classes im taking in ucla will show my interest in history and a future career in it?
also my friend told me not that many people apply as history majors to jhu..so does that boost my chances since a lot of people are applying as science majors?
Also..does anyone know anything about the jhu humanities department ( that consists of enlgish and history)</p>

<p>Not really. I mean, colleges look for passion, hobbies, and a record showing that you've overcome adversity. Kind of hard to establish that now. You already have the scores. Just focus on the essays and be yourself. You've got plenty to write about (poetry, volunteering, etc.), and if Hopkins still uses the "if you have 10 dollars in a day, what would you do?" essay, then just submit a poem.</p>
