My hours/week on ECs seems exaggerated...

At the peak of my volunteering in my junior year, my application indicates that I am doing about 20 hrs/week, when in reality it is more like 12 or 13. For a few activities I listed 6 or 7 hours a week, but that was because of volunteering during the summer (10-12 hrs/wk) or because I average my hours between freshmen and junior years (maybe 8 hours/wk during my freshmen year and only 4 hours/wk my junior year). Also, I did not do any sports junior year which meant I got out at 2pm every other day so 12-13 hours wasn't that much for me.

Nonetheless, the average I end up with seems too high. Will colleges think I'm lying? Should I be worried?

How many hours/week do most students spend on extracurriculars?

ugh, 20 hrs for ECs a week sounds about right...hell, i probably spent more than that on ECs/week during my peak times

20hrs/week is like at most 4 hours a day, which isn't that unusual. So you're probably good.

no one is ever exact. I don't think they care too much about those... if your EC was a hook, they might look at it carefully.. if it isn't, you could say 50 hours a week, and it would just be poo poo

mines like 45-ish
