So, in the essay section of my first choice college they allow you to pick your own topic for the essay and I've been having problems with this but today I think I may have come up with an idea. My idea was to pick a quotation and to then write about why I feel that it is so significant, while I'm sure that this is not a wholly original topic I think I could really get into this topic and enjoy writing this essay.

If it turns out that everyone here ends up telling me that this is probably not a good idea then my next choice would be to use a topic from a (fairly large) list of topics that I got in my english class, I am looking at "Identify a contemporary issue or problem. Explain why it is important to you. Take a position and support it." This is another topic that I would feel comfortable with.

Thoughts?

And just FYI, the quotes I was looking at were from from Emma Goldman, a political radical from the early portion of the 1900's. Some quotes from her that I was like are:
1. "I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck."
2. "The motto should not be: Forgive one another; rather understand one another."
3. "When we can't dream any longer we die."
