My Impressions of the US Exam

APUSH exam, I meant. Anyways,

Wall of text and much grievance. Read at your own boredom.

-Well the multiple choice were easy. Too easy. Honestly, I didn't even study the "stuff" of the multiple choice focused on and I was confident with my answers. This was a serious letdown as I'm sure the curve will be low since just about everybody did well I bet.
-First question was probably the biggest shock. It left me curious and think for 3minutes before I ended up picking the wrong answer (just googled it :/)
-I'm probably just acting paranoid but here's what happened: I thought I finished all 80 (with very few blanks) questions, so I was checking through all my answers at a diligent pace, when suddenly the proctor says "I will begin collecting all booklets". I was in an immediate scurry to find all the questions I left blank, and then I saw #79 blank... It was such an easy question, and I was just about to fill it in (pencil touched circle), when the proctor snatched my book. Two thoughts, why the heck didn't he give us at least a 5minute warning before the section was over? And two, like I said, this is probably paranoia setting in, but I'm just wondering how the heck I left #79 blank. It seemed like such an easy question. This leads me to think that perhaps I neglected some other questions, or even worse, I left the last 10 blank.... Like I said, MC was easy as pie, and the thought that I might have screwed up the MC is cringing.

DBQ:
-What the heck AP? This year's exam is so... I mean it was easy, but once again I'm sure everybody did well, and the curve will probably be low, or at least the graders' would judge be eloquence in writing at that point, since I'm sure everybody had plenty of content.

FRQ B and D were both easy. I never went into very specific details on anything, but thats because I knew so much and could only give condensed info on everything.

Overall, I still can't believe I studied. In fact, this week I studied completely irrelevant information (twas trying to remember, or at least recognize everything in the Pageant). Everything I know from the DBQ and MC, I knew for the longest time. I mean really now, I looked at the 2001 exam and the MC were so much more diverse and challenging to the unprepared. Today's exam was so easy, that the people who get the best grades will probably be the one's who got the best sleep. I'm expecting 40%+ 4 or 5, as just about everyone in my class were saying hallelujah at the ease of the exam.

Sidenote: This is the first time I actually did long term studying (if you consider a week long term anyways) ever. I always cram, and after this exam, I'll just cram for now on.

EDIT: If I said something I shouldn't have, please tell me ASAP. I think I'm really discrete with this post, but then again I don't know how strict the CollegeBoard is.

I totally wasn’t expecting the DBQ to ask something about something in the time period that it did. Since when was the last time they had a DBQ in that time period?

@leadlol: Exactly. They take past years’ topics into consideration.

You knew…it might just be me, but I felt bad before the test when I saw a girl who looked so tired and had dark circles under her eyes. >.< She must have pulled an all-nighter either through cramming, partying, or something else I can’t think of.

Yeah led, I completely agree. The whole era in general didn’t seem to have anything essay worthy.

I also just realized that I only added about 4 doc tags… I mean the graders don’t consciously search for docs… right? I clearly knew my material and was able to discuss it, is that that be enough?

The DBQ totally caught me off guard. Couldnt remember too much outside info.

The two FRQ’s were simple, easy information and easy topic.

MC was simple as well. Reading Crash Course the day before was actually pretty helpful.

Well if you think about it, there are actually probably a ton of people who did bad. I think the curve will won’t be too terrible. Everyone on here is some sort of over-achiever (well maybe a few exceptions), so of course they would think it was easy. Most the people on here probably studied for weeks or at least crammed, while the majority of kids, at least in my school, didn’t look at anything. For example, the kid next to me was done with his essays and had an hour to spare.

Haha people at my school were like OMG THAT MULTIPLE CHOICE WAS SO HARD so don’t worry too much about the curve.

And these people paid $86 for the test. Imagine the people who didn’t (I learned from here that some states pay for the tests).

^Yep I live in Florida and our tests are free if we take the class.

^ Same it was free

Ugh, I feel your pain about #79. I knew that time period VERY well, but I couldn’t figure out what the answers were saying! I had it narrowed down to two, but I couldn’t even interpret the choices. In retrospect it was such a easy question and I can’t believe I got it wrong.

I agree about the MC not being diverse and challenging. All the major landmarks and events of US History seemed to be conspicuously absent. Very weird test. I found it fairly easy as well, but I know many people who didn’t. The last picture on the test (you know the one I’m talking about, on the left page of the last 2 pages), everybody I’ve spoken with got that one wrong. Strange.

^Yeah, I really didn’t expect that picture at all. My class didn’t even talk about it at all, but me and most of the people I know guessed correctly
