my improvement but confusion

<p>i retook geometry this summer to makeup the D i got in 10th grade. I got an A this summer
i heard that UCs look for 10th (including summer school) and 11th (including summer school) grades only
I also heard you need at least a 3.0 to apply but i have a 2.86 or so.
does that mean i cant apply..??
& i heard u only add solid subjects and no pe. so does that mean marching band wont count? because then my gpa would go down..
and to calculate my grades, do i still add the 1 point fron the D or does the A take OVER with 4 points, (not counting the 1 point from the D)?</p>

<p>UCs use your A-G course grades, so marching band probably won't count and your GPA will be lower--maybe much lower. I don't think you're eligible for UCs (unless you have high test scores--those can qualify you in a different category), but check with your counselor to be sure one way or the other.</p>
