My Internal Strife.

why are you making all these decisions now? i take it you are a junior.. these are things you dont have to figure out for at least another 5 months. Now is the time to enjoy life. you will be amazed how much your personality can change in the next year, and along that, the personalities and types of colleges you are attracted to.

To his, their own.

What do you think, though?

You should be listing some safety and match schools too. You are definitely a high reach for all the schools you listed (save BU). Georgetown EA is extremely hard to get into, and UChicago EA will be difficult given your SAT and GPA (B average is too low).

I hate to break it to you, but if you applied to those 8 schools then you'd be lucky to get into one of them with your current statistics. NYU is probably your best shot. So from here you should find some matches and safeties so we could evaluate those for you.

However, if you get your SAT up to 1400+ and GPA above 92 then you would have a MUCH better chance at the schools listed.

My Physics class is dragging me down. I will be fortunate to earn a 90 or a 91 weighted average. I am working on it, though. I will strive for the highest GPA possible. I will, also, push for a higher SAT score. Practice, practice, and practice.

I will be extremely pleased if NYU or University of Chicago takes me. Would ED, help me get into NYU?

If I do EA for UofC, could I -- hypothetically -- apply under ED for NYU?

If I recieved acceptance letters from both schools, picking -- for me -- would be a tough choice. I weigh them equally.

Well if you did EA for Chicago and ED for NYU, and actually got into both, you wouldn't have a tough choice. NYU here you come.

I know. But, if I do EA for Chicago, and I don't do ED for NYU. There is more of a risk.

Both schools are well-known, and offer an excellent undergrad study, isn't that correct?

I wouldn't really recommend NYU for anything other than business. It offers a good education, but it is way overpriced. UChicago is definitely the better education.

chicago is definitely a much more respected school, if not quite as well known. NYU is known for the mere fact that its in New York, and the ohllsen twins go to its film school. For any science, economics, philosophy, pretty much anything besides film, chicago offers a better education. Although, NYU is much more fun and nice place to be. You have to be a special animal to go to chicago, so i would definitely recommend checking it out next fall before you even consider applying there.
