my internet friend wants to kill himself...help...

this is especially urgent.</p>

<p>does anyone KNOW ANY IMMEDIATE WAY I can help him???</p>

<p>he just wrote "bye [my name]" in the e-mail. and I honestly don't know what to do...</p>

<p>i've put so much time and effort in trying to help him... it would severely hurt me if he did such a thing. severely...</p>

<p>edit:I just sent him URLs and phone numbers to suicide hotlines. I don't know anything else I can do. I don't know his phone number or anything. Ive never talked to him...</p>

<p>I just googled "suicide prevention hotline" and came up with listings of sites with a 24 hour hotline. I think you need to talk to with an expert.<br>

<p>Okay, I just saw your edit. I'd still go ahead and call one of the places yourself. They've probably dealt with this situation and might know if there is any way to track down your friend.</p>

<p>if you know approximately where he lives, you can call the police in that area and they may be able to find him from his IP address. I've seen it happen before.</p>

<p>i confused the operator - she didn’t know what an IP address is…</p>

<p>i could only give him cell phone and IP number (tracked from wordpress)…</p>

<p>the operator asked me if it was a hoax or not… it told her probably not…why would he send such e-mail to his closest friend? she also was puzzled at why i didn’t even know the exact town name</p>

<p>The e-mail to a tech savvy friend with a way to track him down could have been a way to reach out for help before he got to the point of carrying out his plan. You've definitely done the right thing.</p>

<p>Only manipulative bastards make fake suicide threats to their "close friends." If the OP's friend actually cared about the OP, he wouldn't have done this. I hope (the people I am actually talking to, i.e. everyone on this thread who is not IK) knows this. The OP might care a lot about his "friend," but it seems pretty one-way to me.</p>

<p>i didn't manually count - i used the CC search engine to record all of my posts since the beginning and to save them (so I found ~10 pages of 200 posts each, making for ~1000 posts in cafe or something) - the reason was to save them all to disk</p>
