My interview contacted me again two months after...why?

So as many of you might know, I've been deferred at Penn. Just today, my interviewer contacted me after we met in Novemeber prior to the ED round. After I got my decision, like many people suggested on these boards, it's good to contact your interviewer....

So I emailed her back in december letting her know I was deferred and if she had any suggestions for me in this next cycle. She recommended I send a letter and contact my AdCom, which I promptly did. However, she just e-mailed me again today and said that she was wondering how thigns were going and if I had heard from any other schools yet...

Is this common practice? I'm just curious about why she might want to know about other schools lol....do you think the admissions officers might have asked her to do so? It seemed like a genuinely pleasant e-mail....but its hard to not be skeptical during these months...

I appreciate your views as always :)

I doubt it’s because the interviewer is trying to report back to the adcoms or something. She most likely is just genuinely interested in how you’re doing so far because she’s hoping the best for you, since you probably made a good impression on her for your interview.

I exchanged a couple emails with my interviewer too after I was accepted. Things my interviewer asked and talked about in the emails were definitely just non-academic discussions and personal interests.

There’s no way the AdCom had her do anything. She contacted you because you started the thread in the first place with the email.

yeah but I sent her the e-mail like two months ago…they day I got my decision and she replied that day too so we pretty much ended the exchange there. Then she randomly sent me one again today…without me contacting her.

But ya, it seems like she was just interested I guess. I am pleased to know that!
