Freakin' out! Who has had theirs already? How'd it go?

I had mine about 4 weeks ago it was awesome! My two cents:

Convey your passions!!!

Thank your interviewer for giving up their time for you

Be on time.

Bring something cool to show your interviewer so that they’ll remember you!

Ask lots of questions - its not a one way interrogation!

Send a follow up email (or even a letter) thanking your interviewer

Good luck!

The question that always comes… Why MIT?

Make sure you can answer it smoothly. It’s better to sound a little rehearsed for this one than stumble through it awkwardly.

Try to gauge your interviewer before making any controversial statements. Obviously still be yourself, but as an example, it was only after I felt my interviewer was pretty environmental did I talk about how gas prices should ideally be $8-9 to decrease emissions…(this was right after the 2nd presidential debate so I was discussing my interest in sustainability in context of the election).

Most important is to not worry! You are more interesting than you realize, so just have a a conversation and go with the flow.
