Recently one of my int'l friend who just finished his sophomore yr was complaining on facebook. It was his first yr in the U.S. boarding school and he had an accent when he speaks English, but he was a pretty hard worker. His English communication really bothered him cause it's hard for him to really talk like us, sometimes people just don't understand his accent. I mean he was a cool guy but somewhat he found really hard to assimilate into the b.s. environment. He was always shy when he had conversations with girls, he didn't feel like that he fit into the american group so he isolated himself alot. Is there any suggestions?

He will be amazed at how at-home he feels when he returns as a Junior. The campus will be familiar; he will know people.

Everyone, not just internationals, feel a little lost the first year. Second year will feel better.
