Hey guys my name is kiernan Rodriguez and I wanted to talk about my plans for College and the issue behind. When I graduate from high school in the year of 2013 in June I want to go to a school that provides my major for video game designing and computer programming/ graphics. I'm currently from NY and my favorite schools I'm looking at are Ohio state, Georgia Tech, and Full Sail University, and finally Binghamton. So my problem is I need to take my SAT and submit it but my question is would it a smarter idea to go to a college in NY thats a community one and spends 2 years there and then transfer to te other schools I'm interested in? My favorite ones are Full Sail and GA Tech but idk if going there as a freshman would be ok due to all the pricy things down there. I'm already signing up for scholarships but would it worth it for the whole 4 years. My current plan would be go to HVCC and then transfer to focus on my major.

I’m just guessing here. But I think the odds of being able to transfer to GT after 2 years at a CC in another state are slim. You would have to make sure that the classes would transfer into GT’s curriculm. Plus I don’t know how many transfer’s they accept. Not sure if there is a cap or not.

MichiganGeorgia, I understand that you made a guess on this, but I would like to counter that statement. This is of course based on my experience alone. My friends and I came from a CC in FL and while we made sure to complete the minimum requirements for transferring, all four of us got accepted to tech. The odds seem to be better than what some expect.

Full Sail does an AWESOME presentation and a reputation for being a techy heaven for it’s students… it is NOT a traditional college experience like GT. There are no dorms on campus and no football team to attend on Saturday. In some ways is more of an adult education center. I am not saying there aren’t freshman taking classes along side you, but from what I understand many of their programs are full of adults already working in the industry and needing to expand their skills. It’s been a while since we went on a tour, but I think you are only in school there for 2-3 years going year round. That will save you money on room & board because you won’t be there for 4 full years but it is EXPENSIVE!!! Here in Florida, the only people who have even heard of Full Sail are the “computer geeks” (and I raised two of them so I am not being ugly when I say that) Because it isn’t a traditional 4 year college, it kind of falls in a separate category from the other schools you are interested in. I think if you could find some reviews from Full Sail students it might help you decide if that is a school you would enjoy or maybe one you might not want to commit to. Good luck in your decision making!
