My job and ECs

Hi everyone!

I'll be starting my second year at CCP next week (yea! So excited to get back in the classroom!) and this year, I will have a real, part time job in addition to going to class. I'll be working at a non profit organization called the Beacon Program. It helps low income families with a lot of things. I started working with the program in the summer. I loved it and they offered me a position for the fall. I'll be working 9 hrs most weeks and maybe 12 some weeks. What I'll be doing is helping teens in the program research colleges and vocational schools as well as fin. aid and scholarships. I'll be going to hs's all around South Philly as well as contacting colleges and vocational schools so that they can come out and speak to my students. I'll be working from 4-6 T Th F and maybe some Saturdays (not sure yet).

Once schools starts and I get a feel of what my courseload will be for this semester, I don't know if I'll have much time to get involved in a ton of ECs. I'm thinking at the most, I can do like two ECs at the college. Do you think this will have any major impact on my application?

dont' worry ECs are not THAT important for transfer students...

Unless you're thinking top-top tier, focus on the other aspects of your application more like grades, courseload, recs, legacy (if you're lucky) and especially those critical essays. Where are you looking to transfer to?
Note this is what I was told by William and Mary, except the legacy part, of course, and also what I hear from other successful transfer students. I haven't attempted a transfer yet so I can not tell you from experience. Grades and courseload are key! 4.0 with solid courseload (15 at university, 18 I think from cc, I'm university btw) will give you excellent chances anywhere except those elite schools. Top private schools generally put significant focus if you're applying as a sophomore. Publics are almost solely college performance no matter when you apply.

I'm thinking about private colleges and I'll be applying as junior coming from a CC.

Bryn Mawr
Barnard

Thanks for the replies.
