My Junior Year Classes

Is my schedule too hard for my Junior Year?

1st Semester/2nd Semester

American Literature/World Literature
Trigonometry/Calculus I
Biology I/Biology II
Chemistry I/Chemistry II
Government/World History
AP Human Geography A(online) / AP Human Geography B(online)
Free Period/AP Chemistry AB(online)

The classes that aren’t AP are at a local college.

Only you know how much you can handle, but I know some on CC have expressed that they feel overwhelmed taking only a few college/AP classes. If you know that all you will be doing is homework in (most) of your free time, then I would advise you drop some of courses and just take them at your high school. Junior year is the busiest time in your high school career because you’re doing SAT/ACT prep and sending apps for colleges; make sure you have enough time for your apps and ECs - no offense, but if you don’t have anything outside of school that you do (like playing a instrument, sports, or being in organizations/clubs) then your application will sort of look dry. As long as you have enough time for your homework and your apps then your course load is fine.

Thnx for the advice pinklinks, but I wasn’t planning on applying to any elite colleges(My counsler thinks I should considering my GPA, clss rank, etc.). So I didn’t think EC’s really mattered. Plus I’ll get my associates degree by the time I graduate high school.

What is AP Chemistry AB?
I would add an english class but otherwise looks good!

Are you taking a foreign language at all?

American Literature/World Literature
Trigonometry/Calculus I
Biology I/Biology II
=> all are ok

Chemistry I/Chemistry II => DO NOT take both Bio 1+2 and chem 1+2: you’ll be with premed gunners who’s already taken the Ap equivalent and will crush you because doing so is their only way to med school. Replace with a foreign language. If you reached High School Level 3, take College Level 2 and 3. If you didn’t, start at Level 1 for 1+2.
Government/World History
AP Human Geography A(online) / AP Human Geography B(online) => remove. Un-necessary. You’re enrolled in college classes, no need to take a “gateway to AP” class. 4-5 college classes would be a full schedule BTW.

Free Period/AP Chemistry AB(online) => what’s AP Chem AB?

AP Chemistry AB is a the full year content of AP Chemistry in one semester. If you go to this link and find the class in the catalog (https://gavs.gavirtualschool.org/GAVSRegWeb/Courses/CourseCatalog), I think it’ll make it bit clearer. I’m thinking it’s a good idea to take because I would have a semester’s worth of knowledge from Chem I. I also think it would show some interest in Chemistry(it’s my major) to college.

As for foreign language, I’ve completed three years of Spanish in high school(90, 95, and 97 respectively). I would do years 4 and 5, but the teacher’s begins speaking exclusively in Spanish, and considering conversational Spanish is my weakest point(I can read and write Spanish well), that would be too much of a hassle for me. Also, AP Spanish is not offered at my high school. I’ll take a placement test at the college for credit when the semester begins.

I don’t think that Bio and Chem would be too much content-wise because I’ve taken both in high school. I’ve asked some of the professors about the content of each class, and the college content is near verbatim the notes I’ve taken in high school(college chem is more math oriented).

As for APHUG, I might drop it. I signed up for it because I was interested in the content.

My tentative schedule for my senior year would be:

Calculus II/ Calculus III
Physics I/Physics II( Both Calculus-Based)
Organic Chem I/Organic Chem II
Macroeconomics/ Microeconomics
PE/ PE

All are at the college.
