I have 2 APs on my transpcript, including the AP i'm taking this year. I mean, i know for a fact that i wouldn't have trouble taking 4-5 APs in a single year, but because my AP apps were late in my junior year, i was rejected from every single one of the APS i applied to(except one, whose teacher i've known for quite a while). My schools just has this policy that requires all AP apps to be ahnded in 8:30 sharp, and every application that arrives after that time will just be discarded. Unfortunatly, god decided to play a sick trick on me that day- a lady got sick on my train. Now im stuck in one AP, and i'm just wondering how much impact this will have on my app?

Just to put this into perspective

50% of my senior grade of 110 are taking on average of 3 APs.
My GPA is 3.1, rediculously low compared to the top 20% of my grade.
I possibly have the highest SAT and SAT2 scores in my school, with decent extracurriculars.

Is there a chance for me?

I'm looking at BC,BU,Babson

Thanks.

You have a chance but it looks like you've been taking it easy. If you have the highest standardized scores and a GPA below the top 20%, and are not even taking the most difficult classes, it seems you've been skating along. That won't help your application case.

It takes skill and desire to succeed in tough colleges (and in many areas of life and sport). You clearly have the intelligence, but the disparity between capability and results begs the question -- "does this guy care about learning in a formal environment?"

I think you may be learning the consequences of half effort slightly late in the college game. However, make the lesson you're learning from this as a focus of your essay. That just might convince an adcom at a tough school to take a chance with you.

There are lots of really intelligent late academic bloomers.

I agree with the other posters. What are your SAT1 scores, your AP test scores? What classes have you taken? Any SAT2s? What colleges are on your list? Where do the top kids tend to go to college at your school? What about kids with your stats? What is your state school?
