I spend a lot of time volunteering for JDRF - juvenile diabetes research foundation because I am a type 1 diabetic. I participate in the JDRF walk to cure diabetes and I host a garage sale every year in which all $$$ goes to JDRF. Overall I have made over $10,000.

Rec's - one from history teacher was awesome, didn't read one from math teacher, also got supplemental one from soccer coach
Essay - took a unique angle on diabetes and soccer

Strength's - Soccer, GPA, ACT
Weaknesses - lack of big awards

I can't think of anything else, so what do you guys think?

edit/bump:

national AP scholar and national merit commended - :(

if that matters

Obviously you have great academics and standardized testing scores. While you do not have a huge amount of clubs and leadership roles, I do not think that is nessicarily a bad thing. Clearly you are extremley passionate about Soccer and Mathletes, and there is a lot fo depth there. I’m banking on the same thing regarding soccer (Although I’m nowhere near as good a player). Unfotunatley Stanford, Harvard and MIT are reaches for everyone, and I bet it would be extremley hard to walk on at Stanford. But they are not huge reaches for you, just reaches. If you would have applied early to Duke I would think you have a great shot there, but their regular admit rate is understandably low, so I think that’s a reach too. I think Northwestern is a low reach and Berkley an even lower reach (Just cause you arent instate). The rest seem to be matches and safetys. Good luck!

Chance me Back?

I was captain of the soccer team, president of NHS, Preisdent of mathletes and VP junior year, and captain of the scholastic bowl team. The leadership is there isn’t it? Maybe the volume of clubs is not, but I believe that comes with greater depth. I chanced you by the way, impressive stats.

bump
i will chance you back if you chance me

You have great grades and SAT scores, but lack of superb ECs will weaken your chances.

Duke - high match
Stanford (REA) - already applied - reach
Harvard - reach
University of Michigan - low match
UW - Madison - safety
UNC Chapel Hill - high match (OSS is hard here)
UCLA - match
USC - already applied - low match
University of Illinois - already applied - safety
Berkeley - match
Northwestern - low match
MIT (soccer) - reach

About what I am expecting ^^
Hopefully can get into one reach school, but I would still be happy going to almost any of the schools on that list.

last bump too

I disagree about your ECs not being solid. Soccer at that level takes massive amounts of time and weekend travel is a given. I think you’ll be fine with many if not most schools. Did you not look into being recruited? Seems like it would be an option somewhere if not at these schools for sure. Good luck!

Duke - high match
Stanford (REA) - reach
Harvard- not really a reach since you got the stats, depends on your essays.
University of Michigan- match
UW - Madison - match
UNC Chapel Hill- match
UCLA- match
USC - match
University of Illinois - match
Berkeley- match
Northwestern- match
MIT (soccer)- reach but you got solid stats in math/sci…

chance me please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1419074-chance-me-ill-chance-back-asap.html

@89

I actually did send some recruiting info to a lot of the schools on this list. I am going to be visiting with the northwestern coach soon. Still, making a D1 team is a long shot.

Also I disagree that you call MIT and Harvard matches. Reaches for everyone in my opinion.
