What is the probability that I end up in just one of these schools? Or, what are my odds for individual schools?

I would be very grateful for any replies/chances!! :)

These are the schools:

Oh and this is my last chance thread! (Things are going to get busy for me.) Because of that, I want to be chanced using a few extra approximate scores which I am expecting in the fall. This includes what I already have... here are my scores:

Retake history, math, and bio. You don’t want an SAT II below 770, really. BTW, Math I is pretty much a joke. 2270 is mediocre for those schools. You’re definitely taking it again right? Shoot for 2300+. Have you done community service? If not, you better get to it. The Ivy’s expect over more than a 100 hours of service, you better get started now if you haven’t already. Your ECs aren’t particularly stellar either, aside from track you’ve basically only been in them for one year. Passion? I think not. Good thing you love your safety.

Ok a little discouraging but thanks for the tip, I’ll get with community service to put on there.
And I’ll do my best with SAT and Subject Tests, but really for many of those schools I will only send the two 800s, that’s enough.
And running has been my only 4 year EC because that was the only thing in common while I switched schools. My other school didn’t have Debate or FBLA, while the new school didn’t have a Service Club etc…

flyingllama, don’t listen to these pricks. They believe that anyone short of perfect doesn’t deserve to be in college. That a 2270 SAT isn’t good enough even though most these colleges have guys that get less.

They’re not perfect, but they’re close enough to it. Believe it or not, adcoms understand the concept of stupid mistakes. Sustained excellent grades says a lot more than a 2400. Many schools just use the SAT as a competency meter. Unusually low scores will raise a red flag, but decent scores will only get you past that round of elimination. 700 and up per section is fine.

flyingllama: Not at all. Your scores are excellent, your grades seem to be good, and colleges do understand extenuating circumstances. On the other hand, you’re applying to schools with some of the lowest admissions rates in the country. It’s really a toss-up.

haha those scores are good enough, trust me. Whoever says they aren’t doesn’t know what college admissions is about. 2270 and 2300 is a negligible difference, plus you have great SAT II subject scores. However, i do believe you need something other than questbridge to stick out (this is coming from a questbridge finalist).

Thanks for the replies! Alright now how about these scores? They just came in.

So can these scores validate my improvement in grades?
I was worried that colleges would think that I received straight As junior year by perhaps switching to an easy high school in Utah… but that now, these AP scores could rebut that argument.
Do you understand what I’m trying to say?

Also note that with AP Psychology, I missed the first quarter. Beginning of 2nd quarter, I told the teacher I wanted to join, and he said it was risky because people who had missed the first quarter in the past were not able to catch up. But I did, and I got a 5… he’s writing one of my recommendations. He’s also the same teacher who nominated me for “keys to success”. Just something I wanted to add over here, even though Psych sometimes has the reputation of being an easy AP.

I mean, its hard to say what your chances are of getting into at least one of those schools. Definitely apply to them, because youve got a shot at getting into one for sure. Stats wise youre really fine, dont let these guys tell you youre not. Go to collegeboard.com if you wanna check the stats of admitted students for those schools

Yes, but you’re setting arbitrary thresholds that mean nothing.
A 2270 and a 2300 are no different. It’ll make absolutely no difference.
Would you say that a 2340 and a 2310 are so different? No, because they’re above 2300.

But adcoms honestly don’t have minimum scores they look for. The SAT IIs similarly do not have to be anything. If they’re insignificantly less than 770 (wherever that came from) on average, so be it–this is just one part of the application! Get a grip!

Did this person read how he was HOMELESS for months? Or that his dad took his own life? Seriously, don’t offer an opinion if you refuse to read the full information provided.

As I posted in a previous thread, the OP has a strong shot at HYP(and all other schools).
