MY LAST CHANCES POST- any input at all appreciated

RANK: 7/390 in a pretty good school that sends 80% of grads to some college

GPA: 3.7 w....I think we weight VERY DIFFERENTLY as our valedictorian with straight As and a 2400 SAT got a 3.8. I've got 5 APs this year...I'll have taken 7 APs by graduation. Got 5s on US History and Bio.

SAT: 800M, 680R, 710W.... retaking in November because I think I have a lot to gain on writing

SAT II: 800 US History, 780 World History, 770 Math I, 760 Math II

EC:

Will start volunteering for the Ron Paul campaign in the next month

Others:

SCHOOLS: (I really don't know what I'll study.....will apply for financial aid)
-Georgetown (College)
-Cornell (CAS)
-UPENN (CAS)
-UCONN (for fallback)
-Brandeis (anyone else get the free online app offer?)
-Dartmouth
-UChicago
-BU
-NYU
-Tufts

i am still in high school so i my opinion probably isn't worth that much, but it looks like you should be able to get into most of these schools easily. Cornell, UPENN, Dartmouth, and UChicago are not for sure, but you have a good shot at them.

No amount of "weighting" will turn straight As into a 3.8

"No amount of "weighting" will turn straight As into a 3.8"

I have no clue why our counselors used these GPA values. He gave us some strange formula where a certain number of points was added to your raw grade and that value would be in turn be divided by some other number to make a grade on a 4.0 scale. All I know is that mathematically only a kid with straight 100s can get a 4... a 90 average is about a 3.6.

93-100 is not an A?
You must have received about half A-'s and half A's.

Yes most of my grades are in the A- to A range

Bring Up My Post
