My last one died pretty early so... (it's the last -- I promise!)

So my last thread died out with just a few responses. I thought i might try to liven it up with a new thread!

Strong rec's, counselor's is generic (but the Mid-year one is awesome)

Intended Major: First choice Aerospace engineering, second choice environmental engineering i.e. SEAS

Colleges/Universities:
MIT - Rejected
UPenn (TOP CHOICE) -
Princeton -
Yale-
Stanford -
Harvard -

Vassar -
Lehigh - Rejected, FA cited as reason FML
Tufts -
Lafayette (brother currently doing bachelor's here)- accepted
Carleton College - flat out rejected :(
Macalester -
Middlebury -
Wesleyan -

So Penn is my top choice.. but i'm applying for FinAid, and am a fringe candidate. On the other hand, I AM applying for SEAS (which is no wharton XD)
Lehigh was a shock i'm still not over. three rejects and one accept. From the looks of , it isn't gonna get any better. I'll keep this post updated with the latest decisions!

Can you please chance me with percentages or match/reach etc.?

I cannot believe that you got rejected from those schools, especially Lehigh. Your scores are good (SAT IIs), you have a good GPA and you’ve taken tough classes (A-levels). I understand that FA is a problem for internationals, but you should get into at least Macalester or Tufts. UPenn and HYPSM will be tough, but you have a shot.

Thanks.
Let me add to the misery:
Vassar: waitlisted
Wesleyan: Waitlisted
Stanford: rejected :frowning:
this sucks.

Middlebury: Waitlisted

So far only 1 acceptance out of 8 decisions -.-

What does FA mean?
You have really good stats though :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/890130-chance-me-please.html

Lol sorry FA means Financial Aid.

ok so i am also a pakistani my stats are the same as yours almost same sats same ecs need lots of FA applied to almost the same schools so here goes

MIT rejected
Stanford rejected
Colgate rejected
Lafayette rejected they say no FA
Lehigh still waiting for decision
WUSTL waitlisted
Middlebury waitlisted
accepted furman full ride
so i guess we are in the same boat w8ing for april 1st decisions
best of luck

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see you rejected from Penn and Stanford. Both are need-aware to Internationals.

@ findmuiz: Lehigh released their decisions for all applicants on the 25th March. Go to your applicant portal to find out!

Wow, those are Amazing SAT 2 scores…ur Sat is also pretty good…nice GPA, challenging course…

You should not at all be discouraged that Leigh rejected you, probably cause of need for FA…i cant see wat other reason they could have.

Thanks llazar. Anyone else? Ivy D-day is coming so I thought maybe a HYP- & Penn-related chance???

International + FA need = Top of top of top of top of top of top students in that pool get accepted.

Especially UPenn, Stanford, MIT because those schools have SUPER competitive International applicant pool.

You got rejected by MIT, and you should know what the decision is for Stanford.
I see it as a super doubtful for UPenn.

Thanks greekorathletic. I applied for an engineering major in both MIT and Stanford, which is the most competitive degree. I understand why i got rejected from such a competitive applicant pool. But Penn’s SEAS program isn’t as competitive, and it’s acceptance rate, from what i read in another thread, is 25%. Doesn’t that give me any shot? I’m not exactly applying to Wharton after all…

Not really.

You are an International wanting FA. That is whole different matter. They only care about taking in the VERY BEST when it comes to money. That’s practically the case for every need-aware schools in that level. Internationals wanting FA who are accepted fit in this general category: easily accepted to HYPSMPCDCB.

Penn is very competitive. Those people who look at purely acceptance rates ignore the other variables that boost the acceptance rate.

bump…

Macalester - Rejected :'(
