SO I KNOW you must be thinking “this girl will not get into any Ivy League” but I can make great essays and I can get stellar recommendations. I’m a minority race, and I am a US citizen living abroad, with great grades in the British Curriculum. Our school doesn’t offer many extracurricular and virtually no jobs/volunteering available where I live (they employ cheap labour)

ah! i just posted a thread just like this too… US citizen, lived abroad, studied in a singaporean curriculum (which is modeled after the british’s) and just moved back for junior and senior year of HS. to be honest i’m not good at this chance-ing thing because i don’t really know myself.

but i have friends from singapore (we do take the GCSE O and A levels there too) who did not have as much achievements, or EC’s but scored around the same as you for SATs and got accepted into NYU and USC (the one who got into NYU has their A levels, and the one in USC, only finished up to their O’s)

Hey, thanks for chancing me and sorry for the late response =D
Soooo, this is what i think so far:

Your stellar grades and URM status almost guarantee admission to public schools. Your SAT will need improvement for more prestigious schools that you are considering, but it is a solid score for michigan, ohio and bryn. Try to break 2100 like you said and (looking at your strong ec’s) you can hold your own in the Ivy league type schools you’re looking at.

Looks like your stronger passions are biology and newspaper. Thats great, keep applying yourself to your interests and make sure that they are reflected in your application. As for your sophomore ec’s, are you sure you can’t find anything? Even small things like babysitting for a neighbor can be counted as a job experience, I’m sure you’ll think of something.

Oh. if you are interested in Duke’s admissions process, theres a book called Admissions Confidential by Rachel Toor that goes into detail about Duke’s admissions office. I found it quite interesting x]. Good luck!

What is your weighted gpa?
I think if you get a 2200+ on SAT 1 then pretty much it’s anyone’s game since you have a 4.0 uw GPA and great ECs. Harvard, Princeton, Columbia admissions are whack and people who get in all have strong profiles so it’s all up to fate.
As for the others I’m sure you’re going to get accepted by many of them, especially the public schools.

You have great grades, just try to bring up those SAT scores (they are good, but remember how INSANELY competitive these schools are.) Even take the ACT, which is what I am planning on doing. I am taking a course for both tests.
Your stay in Dubai is a real nice touch… It shows you are cultured and well-rounded. Admin Officers like to see someone who has world experience. Perhaps you can write about a specific event in Dubai that changed your life perspective. Finally, as the BEST student in Bio and Chem? This increases your chances even more! I think you have a good shot at the ivys, maybe a reach for Harvard, but that’s it. Rock the essay and application! Good luck! My response might not be as informative as some others on here, since I’m pretty new to this site. I’m not as knowledgeable about admissions. Hope I helped…

Will you… Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/754105-i-fell-love-today-do-i-even-have-chance.html

I wouldn’t be concerned at ALL. You have great grades, and not only do you have a lot of extra-curriculars, you’re also a leader in most of them. You say you can write stellar essays; that would be the place to make yourself stand out above all the other straight-A, involved, ethnic applicants. For example, writing on being a first gen. american would probably make for an INCREDIBLE essay.

You’re applying to what are notoriously the most competitive colleges in the nation AND the world, so it’s hard to say that anything is a sure bet. However, I wouldn’t count yourself out for one second.

Good luck!

Wait, are you a ■■■■■? Cause on one thread you said you lived in United Arab Emirites…and then your SAT scores on this thread don’t match with the SAT scores you posted on another thread…I think you’re a ■■■■■ :(
