hi my major is accounting. I was planning to transfer to only CSUs, but recently, I am also planning to transfer to CSUs and UCs.

However, most UCs do not offer business or accounting. Why do UCs not have business system or accounting? If I want to major in accounting, what should I choose a major at UCs? for example, economic? or financial?

or if wanting only to be able to focus on accounting, do i have to transfer to CSUs only?

Few of the UC schools such as UCB, UCI, and UCR offer Business Admin as a major. You can go into the major with the concentration of Accounting only. That will give you enough accounting classes for you to take the CPA exam. Then there is Economics&Accounting at UCSB which provide tons of Accounting classes. You don’t have to go to CSU if you want to major in accounting!

You are correct; most UC’s don’t offer business degrees. That’s simply because UC’s are more research-oriented in the sciences, such as biology and engineering.

If you want to major in accounting specifically, a CSU is your best bet.

The only UC’s that offer business degrees are UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and UC Berkeley. All three of these business schools are extremely difficult to get into, especially UC Berkeley. Their business program consistently ranks in the top 10 in the entire country. You need an extremely high GPA (3.7+) and extracurricular activities that make you stand out from the thousands of applications they receive.

If you really want to go to a UC, you could always change your major to economics. That will make all the UC’s available to you.

UC-Irvine only offers Accounting minor–you can still be an accountant. The only downside is you need Calculus as one of your pre-reqs in order to be accepted into the accounting minor program.

Many UC’s have Econ and Accounting majors combined. UCSB has Econ and Accounting, UCSC has Business Management Economics, Davis has Managerial Economics, etc.
