My Math Dilemma

I go to a small 3A school in Texas, and as a result, our course options are not as expansive as I would like. Because I transferred into the district from a middle school with higher standards in math and science, I ended up taking Calculus my junior year. My school doesn't offer any math higher than Calculus. Now I'm in my senior year and I don't have a math. I'm studying Calculus BC on my own time and plan to to take the AP test in the spring to show colleges that I'm still keeping up with math.

But my question here is that will colleges frown upon my high school transcript? My Physics AP class is currently my Math credit because I have surplus science credits.

Colleges can’t punish you for something out of your control. Besides, great job going for the BC test!

So if I provide my independent study as additional information, colleges will accept it? I had a choice of going for College Prep math or Physics AP, and I picked Physics AP because I wouldn’t learn anything in College Prep.

When your hs sends your transcript, it should also be sending its school profile. That profile should list the classes the school offers. Colleges look at the school profile because they DON’T expect kids to take classes that weren’t offered! You won’t be “punished” if your school didn’t offer a particular AP class or whatever.

Don’t worry about it. Good on you for self-studying BC. You should also look into CC and online courses.
