My name is Mahdi and I need some advise. I live with a mother who had heart cancer (first stage) and had a successful open heart surgery in removing 99% of the tumor in 2008 during my freshman year. Its been very stressful lately of not having my mom around and so I took her position in doing houshold chores and cooking when my dad is of to work.

I'm a first generation american born citizen and honestly...I'm not so wealthy either. My nationality is Bengali. My freshman year of high school, my grades dropped for an A/B+ grades to B-/C+ but my honors biology grades went up. Also I had to move a lot...I lived in NYC for 10 yrs, Fairfield, CT, and now I live in NJ.

I did not get so much time to study for academics and my mom wasn't doing so well. So, my parents and I moved during my freshman year to Connecticut because only Yale hospital had the proper treatment. Her tumor was extremely rare. Only 15 patients have them in the US and the survival rate wasn't so high. My mom had a transplant of a major vessel to the heart (vena cova) with an artificial one. After 2 years of recovery, she lives with depression and a lot of anxiety. She stopped going to therapy and I've been really depressed and stressed out with school lately because my chances of college was slim.

Here are my statistics...
My GPA for...
After moving into Connecticut:
2008/09 Freshman year was 3.1/5
2009/10 Sophmore year: 3.2/5
2010/11 Junior year: 2.1/4 (so far)

PSAT (2009 sophmore year): 154 out of 240
Math: 57
CR:53
Writing:44

SAT (2010 junior year): 1720 out of 2400
Math: 650
CR: 560
Writing 510

I'm planning on taking one more SAT senior year and two AP exams (AP Biology and AP Economics)

I want to major in accounting and finance and work as a CFA (chartered fiancial analyst) and maybe, if I am lucky...maybe an MBA.

I am a really hard working student but I'm worried college won't see me truely how hard working I am because to them, I'm just a number during application process.

I'm planning on applying to:
Baruch
Rutgers
University of Toronto
UCONN
Pace U

My current major is economics.

If there's anyone out there...please help me out. I'm hopless and I'm the oldest sibling. I want to make a good impression in front of them so they don't suffer.

Thank You.
