In cases of danger, the N-word is your best friend. No one cares about the words “Fire!” or “Rape!” anymore, since people goof around all of the time and such. But the N-word always turns the heads.

I would recommend a double action revolver for a first self defense weapon.

Normally I would be hesitant about getting a double action handgun. The difference in trigger pull from a cocked and uncocked position is too different for accurate shooting. Many competitions forbid a preloaded handgun during the start, and the safety on a lot of double action handguns also acts as a decocker.

However in a life threatening situation, it can be hard to remember to pull back the hammer. Just remember you probably won’t hit your assailant far away, so I recommend flashing a little bit of cleavage to lure the mugger closer to a distance you are comfortable you can hit.

You maybe tempted to buy a lower caliber weapon. Sure the cost of ammunition for a .22 rimfire round is significantly cheaper than a bigger 40 or 45, but I believe that you need at least the stopping power of a .357 round to protect yourself and uphold the second amendment.

The Ruger SP101 is a great starting handgun for self defense.

^^^ You win the award for the longest post I’ve ever seen vaguely related to the OP. And if you’re flashing cleavage to lure a mugger closer, you can easily score a headshot with a .22. Plus you’ll get off rounds 3x faster vs the recoil of a higher caliber AND have more rounds to spare with higher magazine capacity.

And if by "The Ruger SP101 is a great starting handgun for self defense. " you mean you can start to kill someone with it and finish the job with a real gun and not a ■■■■■ 6 shooter, then yeah.

When I go off topic I like to make the topic look like a dot in the distance.

.22’s are best used for plinking. Not only is the small round weaker, it is arguably more dangerous in the sense that it is easier for the round to pierce walls and hit unintended targets in some situations.

I am of the opinion that a single well placed shot form a higher caliber weapon is more effective than several shots from a 22LR. Rounds such as the .357 and the .45 are designed to stop people, while multiple hits from a 22, depending on where the target is hit and how much drugs he is on, can still allow the target to attack you. Although the recoil of a 22 rimfire round is minimal, the moving parts and mechanics behind an automatic weapon produces recoil that can be difficult for a novice to handle, especially in the form of a hand gun.

But perhaps the breasts of the victim is a much stronger factor in a well thoughtout defense plan.
If we take this scene from highschool of the dead into consideration:
[HotD - Funny bullet time scene - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)
You will notice that bigger breasts not only provide a stable platform for a more relaxed shooting position, having a more seductive cleavage will likely attract the assailant closer than a flat chest. Thus more effort should be put into drinking whole milk.

You’re better off just having a whistle. Or even better, screaming. I know that people DO react to the whistles because I had a couple of residents freaking out in my building because they thought they heard a rape whistle. They ran to the source, couldn’t find it, and immediately told an RA. I do not know if it was a false alarm or not, but it was taken very seriously and UPD was sent out to check the area.

If your mother wants to pay for it and it will give her peace of mind, it might be worth it to her even if you never use it and it won’t help you. For your own safety, always use the buddy system whenever possible, and if you can’t, don’t be afraid to phone a friend to talk to while you walk (though mind yourself at intersections). At the very least they will hear if something happens and can immediately alert authorities.

this is one of those things you take and nod and move on with life.

A Whistle?

I just hope the assailant isn’t a full-time raver at your nearest club.

Dnation - It’s not necessarily about deterring the assailant. It’s about letting other people know you’re in trouble so you can get help.

"It’s about letting other people know you’re in trouble so you can get help. "

I already countered that in my original post. I’m not going to rape a girl when people are within range of hearing a whistle (or scream). When I hear a whistle I don’t think “I’m going to call 911 because a girl is getting raped”. I think…dumbass sorority chick being obnoxious. I live on fraternity row…girls screaming is part of the background noise.

“I’m not going to rape a girl when people are within range of hearing a whistle (or scream).”

Well…ideally, you’re not going to rape anyone.

@hyperJulie, can’t quite catch sarcasm. At. All.

Ha, only a Mom would imply their daughters are attractive enough to get raped.

Let’s not go down that road, please.

^ very happy I am no where near greek houses

StraightsJacket does have a valid point.

Here we call one of those a rape alarm.

Most guys are willing to have sex with anyone.

^
“Anyone” would include everyone from the elderly to the adolescent, to include both male and female. To say that “most” males would have sex with “anyone” is incredibly fallacious.
The naivety of your statement amazes me.

Anyone as in anyone at college, obviously.
