hannahj65: I’m a junior.

I really hope that doesn’t happen, though. I like these schools a lot. What colleges are you looking at now?

Is there a reason why a public college wouldn’t offer full-ride scholarships?

Because PUBLIC colleges are supported by the states, and and by taxpayers that the public college is located in. Many state budgets are under extreme financial pressure these days- tax income is down, expenses are not going down, and state budget deficits are rising.

Menloparkmom: Right. That was my reason for preferring public colleges.

Thanks for reminding me.

I guess it’s that way on GW because the School of International Affairs has the GER listed on there, along with the courses.

i suggest you take hannah’s advice, and reevaluate your choices in about a year, at least after your fall semester. many things change both at your end and at schools in about a year.

Itsme123: I will. I focused on colleges this summer, but during the year, school’s my priority.

You really won’t know if you’re a viable canidate for Brown, etc. until you take your SAT / ACT. Once you get your scores you can narrow your list based on assessing your chances for admission.

csdad: I know. I think I would do better on the SAT, but my counselor said that I have to also take the ACT.

I will throw in Hobart & William Smith (NY) take a look, and being from Missouri would be a big plus, in my opinion! Best of luck in your college search!

Well at first I wanted to follow my dad’s footsteps and go to USC. The entire environment just seemed like the greatest thing in the world. Good sports, great school spirit, good alumni connections, lots of people, everything I thought I wanted. Now i’m looking into schools that offer a more intimate setting. I’m still not sure on which schools I will apply to, but my dream and mega reach school is CMC. I’m hoping and praying that they will accept me, but I doubt that will happen.

SLUMOm: Thanks! I’ll look into it! :)

hannahj65: I hope you get in! Good luck! You’re applying ED, right?

I really like CMC too. I’m applying there, and to Occidental and USC. Those are my 3 schools on the West Coast.
