MY MOM WILL ONLY LET ME APPY SO MUCH!! HELP!!

You walk up to the table where the school is located at Unifieds and you ask them if they have any openings for walk in…you then sign up for a slot and audition. It’s pretty easy :)

@bisouu THANK YOU SO MUCH. I AM KIND OF EARLY IN THE GAME.

Schools will also have signs indicating they have walk-ins available, but you won’t know until you get there. If you definitely want to audition for a school, schedule it before you get there as you may not be able to get a walk-in space.

OKAY. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING ME MY STORY. SO YEAH I FEEL LIKE THERE NEEDS TO BE A BACKGROUND.

I am in a college-prep program at school, and my mom actually put me on this site to get over the realities easier. I know this may sound weird but I am actually gaining a huge list of schools at the moment and taking all the information from you great people like a sponge. My mom actually was in a same position as I was (She went for voice, and ended up getting into Julliard and not going, instead to a local college and then becoming a nurse) and she has thrust upon me this site to prepare myself. So yeah, this is just so people stop messaging me asking. YAY!

Keep on coming though guys, you CCers are super duper fabulous

@lovemymtgirl Thanks so much!!

The fact that you live in the Chicagoland area (sorry, I have always loved that name) will be a HUGE help- you should be able to do most/all (with planning) at Unifieds. Do common app EARLY - you can’t schedule auditions for schools you KNOW you want to audition for until you have applied. Walk-ins can be great, but also a crapshoot. Just wandering around and seeing who has spots w/o knowing about schools/programs/tuition costs would NOT be a strong strategy

As far as walkins go a few do charge for them. Also look for the walkin sheets on Sunday night or early Monday morning

I agree with toowonderful on having a walk-in strategy. My daughter did 3 walk-ins and they were all colleges we were already interested in and knew about.

Some schools will charge an audition fee if you do a walk-in, and will only take cash. So be prepared or know where the closest ATM is.

Do any of you know how ‘easy’ (theoretically, i know no school is truly ‘easy’) It is to get into ONU, Syracuse and American’s MT programs?

I can speak to Syracuse b/c my D was accepted and we went to the campus, met with dept etc as part of decision making process. Ralph Zito (head of dept) said they had “accepted 35ish” in Acting and MT- hoping for a class of 24 each. He said they auditioned approx 1200 people this year. So 70/1200 is an acceptance rate of .05%- pretty typical at lots of BFA programs
