My Motivation=My Poorish Grades

Okay, so I ended high school with a 3.0 and a rank of 79/184, which was pretty disappointing. I know I'm smarter than that, but I got lazy and sucked. I've been getting straight A's all year this year, and this "failure" (or at least I think so) is really driving me to do better.

One of my colleges asked me to write an essay about what success is to me and how the school will help me achieve it (Endicott). Currently, success to me really honestly is proving to myself that I can get the high grades I'm capable of. Should I write about that? Or is that too negative?

Nyeh!

Hey wow, I've got a similar story! Like, I messed up soph year and worked hard to get better grades because i knew i could do better!
Anyway, I didn't write my essay on it, but growth is always a good thing for college. just make sure you're extra careful when writing it, not to be too negative on yourself or too overwhelmingly cheesy. Play an honest but careful spin on it that makes it a good, inspiring read.
