ok im hopefully going to get past my nightmare class when school starts up. i have failed with class 3 times and it is my only obstacle to graduating.

its about convolution and AM/FM b.s. type stuff.

just wanted to share.

hmm. My nightmare class was fluid dynamic. The way the professor I had taught was meant to failed students. It was a weeder course, and yep he weeded tons of students out of the major :(

Heh, I remember my undergrad solid state physics class. We were supposed to have the professor I had for quantum. He was a fantastic lecturer and his tests were extremely difficult, but very fair. But, unfortunately, he decided to take a leave of absence a week before class started, so the course got passed off to another guy who had never taught the class before (and probably hadn't looked at the material since his candidacy exam 30 years before). I had done my entire physics minor just to take that one class, and it wound up being the worst class I took as an undergrad.

Whitaker?

I'm a UCDavis grad in ChemE and had to retake the first fluids course when he taught it. Then I got him for the second course in the series and got a B. Those who didn't have him for the first series were sourly shocked. He was a good teacher though, just a tough grader. Fair, but hard. He gave Ds and Fs to about 30-40% of the class desipte his set curve.

Definite weeder class.

^ Stroeve. Whitaker left when I came, but Stroeve was still pretty hard. He's supposedly the reason why chemical engineering students graduate on average in 5 years instead of 4 :( We still used Whitaker's book though. I'm pretty sure only one student got an A when I took it (out of 60 students); Mostly Cs and Ds, but I manage to get a B in the course somehow.

Most of my ME classes were hell... not b/c of the materials, but b/c of the incompetency of the professors to teach the classes.
Not to mention the goal for the ME dept was to fail as many students as possible, not teach...
